How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewI had an amazing stay at this spacious duplex apartment, located right in the heart of Sarajevo's Old Town. The location is perfect, just a short walk from all the major attractions, restaurants, and shops. The apartment itself is beautifully designed, offering plenty of space across two levels, making it ideal for both short and long stays. Everything was spotlessly clean upon arrival, and the attention to detail in maintaining the apartment was impressive. Communication with the host was excellent—quick responses and very helpful throughout the stay. The WiFi was fast and reliable, which was a big plus. Overall, this apartment is a perfect choice for anyone looking for comfort, convenience, and a touch of home while exploring Sarajevo. Highly recommended!

Clean apartment, equipped with everything you can imagine that you might need, secured parking, quiet neighborhood, yet very close to Baščaršija (5 minutes on foot). A host who is very friendly and will help you at any moment with fast and efficient electronic communication. Highly recommended. Verified reviewThe apartment had such a homely feeling. It’s just a short walk to old town (note there is a short steep hill to go down and up). It’s just a short (steep) walk to the Yellow Fortress for sunset views over the city, and why not grab a Bosnian pizza from around the corner to take with you. The apartment has everything you need and Emir was great to communicate with and helped when I needed.

Verified reviewThe hospitality of the host. He was very friendly and polite. Nothing was hard for him to arrange if he could.
The street, where the apartment is, is narrow and steep. The bed is not that comfortable. But these are little things compared to the other advantages of the apartment.

The streets in our part of the city are quite wide enough for cars, as we are located in the central part of the Old Town and the center of Sarajevo, which is acceptable for this location. Regarding the bed, we understand that comfort is a subjective feeling. Our double beds are equipped with mattresses from the Exclusive gold collection to ensure the best possible sleeping experience for our guests. Verified reviewUnfortunately we didn't get to meet Emir but he was great at communicating and ensuring we had everything we needed. The apartment was clean, comfortable and well equipped and a short walk to Sarajevo old town.
It was well documented that the old town is down a steep hill and it was a bit of a drag walking up it sometimes! The bed in the downstairs bedroom is a sofa bed so very low and may not be suitable for people with limited mobility.

Verified reviewGreat communicative host who was extremely kind and flexible with allowing us to check out late following a late arrival from Mostar. Loved the decor of the apartment. Very much appreciated the chocolate and drinks for our arrival.
There are these little platforms to the entrances to at least the living room and it might be that 3 out of 4 of us are blind but we all stubbed our toes for the one to the living room and it hurts so just heads up - have better spatial vision than us blind people. My thinking is that if you have a problem, the host is there to help, is quick to reply, and is very kind, so do not worry.

Verified reviewThe location is as good as you can hope for, right above the Baš Čaršija, in a short walking distance. The host was really helpful, all information was given clearly and on time. The whole experience for our one night stop was very smooth and relaxed, warm and cosy. A parking was reserved for us.
Nothing to point out. If you arrive by car, keep in mind that the streets are narrow.
