The good thing about location was that it was right on the edge of the old town - literally just walk round the corner (a very nice bakery just around the corner). The decor and fittings were quirky and a bit old school. The communications and welcome were very good. They arranged a car to and from the airport, which all went smoothly.

The other side of the location coin was the Irish pub approximately 5 metres from our front door. Very noisy until late. Also, we booked a double room but got a twin. The beds were a bit odd - just sort of sofas with a sheet over them. However they WERE very firm and comfortable.

The staff were super friendly and helpful with any questions we had. The room was quite small but comfortable and in a great location close to cafes shops and grocery stores.

There was no AC, which might be difficult for some in the summer and the shower also had no door or curtain so water would get all over the bathroom floor.

The only positive aspect was that it was very close to the city center.

The room was like a zoo. There were spiders and cockroaches in the bathroom, as seen in the photos. There was no air conditioning in the room; instead, there was a skylight in the ceiling that was opened with a stick. If it rained and was open, water would get in and wet the bed. During the day, the sun made it impossible to sleep in bed. Even though there was no keypad system, the lighting constantly turned itself off, sometimes not at all. You would be left without light in the room for a while. There was hot water in the bathroom in the morning, but not in the evening.

    Property response:

Dear Mr. Ahmet, Thank you for your feedback. While we appreciate all reviews, we must address several misleading and inaccurate claims made in yours. Firstly, nowhere in the listing does it state that the rooms have air conditioning. The room you stayed in was exactly the one you booked, with a skylight, which many guests enjoy for natural light and ventilation. If the window is left open — especially in summer — it's quite normal, as on planet Earth, for an insect or two to possibly enter. This is not a reflection of cleanliness, but basic reality. Regarding your photo of the bathroom: any small bug visible most likely came through the open skylight. We take hygiene very seriously, and the entire property undergoes professional pest control (disinfection, deratization, and de-insectization) every 3 months — the most recent one was done just a few weeks before your arrival. We also pay close attention to the cleanliness of rooms, bathrooms, and bedding, as can be confirmed by many other guests. You mentioned lighting: lights in the room are not motion-sensor controlled, only the lobby lights are. If there was any confusion, we wish you had brought it up during your stay so we could assist. As for the hot water, since the room is located slightly farther from the boiler, it may take a short moment for the hot water to reach the tap — which is quite normal in buildings with multiple levels or units. Finally, while we’re glad you appreciated the location close to the city center, your overall review does not fairly reflect the value and conditions provided, especially for the price paid. We always strive to improve and provide a pleasant stay, but in this case, your expectations and our clearly described offer were not aligned. Best regards,

Really great value for money. Location was great. I cannot remember the name of the man who was the transport driver or the man who managed the guesthouse;but both were fantastic and really helpful. I would definitely stay in Guesthouse Yildiz and use the airport transfers again. The man who did the transfers also did tours to many different and interesting locations.

Perfect location in the heart of the old city. Friendly and responsive staff.

I had to withdraw cash to pay. The room windows face the street and that doesn't provide much privacy... I had to hang a blanket on the windows. There was also a problem with the toilet, it took a little too long to be taken care of, but unfortunately there was also a shortage of water in the city at the same time, so I think maybe the staff did what they could.

    Property response:

Dear Guest, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review and for your kind words about our location and staff. We are sorry for any inconveniences you experienced during your stay. Unfortunately, the water outage in the city was due to work on the municipal network, which was beyond our control, but we did our best to resolve the situation as quickly as possible. Regarding the payment method, it is clearly stated in the description of our offer on the Booking page that we accept cash only, and we hope this will not be an issue in the future. As for the privacy at the windows, we’re sorry for the inconvenience. Had you informed us during your stay, we would have responded immediately and provided additional curtains or another solution to make your stay more comfortable. Thank you once again for your visit, and we hope to have the opportunity to welcome you again in the future. Kind regards, Fatima

We stayed in total 6 nights in this beautiful guesthouse. It’s in Baščaršija in the Center of Sarajevo. Very central and even though very quiet. The price for what u get is very good. Hot water and warm radiator. Very clean and secure. Ibrahim who takes care of everything was very helpful and professional. He also took us to Srebrenica in a one day trip. İ would stay again there when i go to Sarajevo.

The hotel is small and cozy, the rooms are clean and comfortable and the position is perfect if you want to enjoy Sarajevo for a few days, it's exactly at the historic city centre of the town. The staff is very friendly, available for any request or question and German is very friendly and funny.

Unfortunately I can't give 10 stars only because we couldn't pay with the card, so we had to withdraw some cash and pay the commission...
