Dear Sabino, I would like to clarify this for future guests. During your stay I found clear evidence of smoking inside the apartment. This is a serious violation of the house rules that you accepted beforehand and which are also clearly stated on Booking.com: “Please note smoking is not allowed. Smoking in the property will terminate the agreement for the rest of your stay. You will have to leave the property.” Smoking is strictly prohibited at Logies ’t Eenvoud – not only out of respect for my property, but also for the health of other guests who have booked a non-smoking accommodation. Because of your behaviour, I even had to apologize to other guests for the smell of smoke in the building. For this reason you were asked to leave the accommodation immediately. Out of respect for privacy, we never enter a room without prior notice. In this case we announced the end of the stay multiple times, knocked, and asked you to check out. I kindly gave you the opportunity to leave voluntarily, so that it was not necessary for me to involve the police. You were given more than an hour to pack your luggage, but you tried to delay this moment by having both adults feed the baby at the same time. In my view, one person could have fed the baby while the other packed the luggage and brought it to the car. We only stepped inside when you refused to leave and attempted to close the door. It is unfortunate that you are now using your baby as an excuse and suggesting that leaving could cause a trauma. That is not correct: this departure was solely the result of your own violation of the rules. If smoking was essential for you, then you should have booked accommodation where this is allowed. In Belgium, however, smoking is not permitted inside tourist accommodation; indoor-smoking options do not exist. These rules apply to all guests without exception, and I always enforce them consistently. I protect the peace, safety, and health of all guests, and I enforce these rules strictly. That is exactly what you and future guests can expect from me. For future guests: if you smoke indoors, your stay ends immediately — baby or not — and you will be asked to leave the premises at once.
