How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewOpen of the nicest places I've stayed. Lovely setting with countryside views, flexible access to kitchen facilities and very reasonably priced beer in the fridge! Very comfortable room and bed

Verified reviewWe stayed for one night before leaving Belgium, and everything was great. The B&B is located a short drive from Brussels, with free and convenient parking – a big advantage if you're traveling by car, since parking in the capital itself can be tricky. The host was kind and charismatic, and breakfast was delicious. The family room was well-equipped, even including a toilet seat adapter for our little one – a thoughtful touch that made things easier. There was also a jacuzzi and a massaging shower, which was a nice bonus.
No complaints at all

Verified reviewA fantastic warm welcome, and a host who can't do enough to make sure you have a great stay. This is quite remote from the main town, but a beautiful and peaceful setting with a nice terrace above the rooms to sit and enjoy the countryside. I can't thank the owner enough for such a lovelly breakfast of fresh bread, jams, soft boiled egg, fresh pastries, fruit and more. I ordered food to the accommodation as probably a bit too far to walk into town. But this is easy as there are plenty of places to order from locally. There is a nature reserve on the doorstep, so a 10k route to walk is available which is peaceful and scenic. I'd travelled from Ipswich in Suffolk, so slept like a log as it was so quiet in the room. The bed was comfortable and the room clean and tidy. Thanks for a wonderful stay, and for the fantastic hospitality. Simon
If you want to be close to bars and restraunts then this probably isn't the right place for you. However, if you want tranquility and nature then this is perfect.

Verified reviewThe B&B was in a lovely quiet location with a small amount of parking. The host was very friendly and provided us with a good continental breakfast.
The parking was not as big as we had expected and so we had to park our vehicle on the road.

Verified reviewHot water with high pressure! Quite cutie apartments.
Was noisy from upstairs (launch room). The chairs in the launch room were very noisy when they were moved. It would be practical to stick soft pads on the chair legs. Synthetic linen bed is not comfortable for body, BUT the price for room good.

Christine is an excellent hostess, very welcoming and helpful, and interesting to talk to. The breakfast was delicious, with a lot of choice. I'll definitely keep Aalsters Genot on my list for future trips!
There was nothing to dislike.

The room was very tiny, could just about get round the bed. There was no aircon and couldn’t open the windows cause of the bugs outside. Very dated, needs a good lick of paint etc. my husband booked it and said the reviews were good, that’s why we booked last minute. Woke at 5am dog barking, but main reason was it was hot and muggy. Set off without breakfast to get an early ferry, so can’t common that.

Verified reviewExcellent host, couldn't do enough for you, very helpful, so thank you. Accommodation was very good, good size room, good shower, windows had fly screen on the outside with was really good as you could leave your window open. Dining room and facilities were upstairs with an balcony to sit outside in the sun. We had a takeaway delivered which was called by the host and arrived within 35 min. Ther is a selection of beers and drink and small foods available to use to if required. Good private parking, with locked gates so this was good for our motorcycles, very secure.
The property is set in a sort of new rural housing estate with nothing around it, it's a good walk of 1.5ml to the nearest shop.

Verified reviewOur host was exceptional. She accommodated a late check in, made sure our beds were made, showed us around our room and the breakfast hall/kitchen upstairs. We could use the kitchen and it was such a savior for making noodles and tea after a long and tired evening. The property is beautiful, set in a quiet and upscale locality with plenty of parking. It even had a small playground for little kids with swings and slides. Overall, an amazing experience. The breakfast was good with all sorts of bread and milk, yogurt, fruits, cheese, eggs, etc. What more could we ask for! Lovely!!
