How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewI had a small incident when my friend came over but the staff were reasonable and understanding so confusion was quickly resolved. Brussels is well connected so you won't be having any issues coming to the city center. I stayed during Nationals Day and I must say that Belgians know how to celebrate.

Verified reviewThe district is quiet, and the place is near Etterbeek station (tram and underground), only a minute's walk. A tram at station Etterbeek Gare heads to Down Town (bus 95) or tram 25. There is a supermarket ALDI, only 2 minutes walk, provide affordable prices! The landlord offered me two extra hours for checkout, I appreciate this. Overall, the place is pleasant. But the price could be slightly reduced.
1. The rooms are too close, and the partitions don't insulate the sound, also the stairs is wooden and makes a noise. 2. Second days all the pots and pans (to cook) disappeare (was existing 1st day), I couldn't understand why. But overall no matter happens, the experience is acceptable.

Verified reviewSpacious room, nice host, lovely neighbourhood
Locking the room with a key every time I needed to go to the bathroom, as there are other tenants and the bathroom is on a different floor, was a bit tiresome. Also, the stairs are rather steep, but i guess it's the case with most houses in Belgium

Verified reviewIt’s ideal for 1 person (which is clear on their ads) who wants a very quiet surroundings (though still can hear some movements of the other persons in the other rooms)
The floor creaks when you walk. Bathroom and kitchen downstairs. Mixed emotions with the landlady - sometimes very nice but there were times when she acted a bit unpleasant (we were asked to wait outside while making a decision even if it was raining hard). It was a bit difficult to explain ourselves. Extra fee a bit high for an additional person given that it’s just a guest room. We talked to the real owner (i guess) and he is very nice, if not for him, i guess we were asked to leave by the landlady. So, to the owner, thank you for accommodating our request. :)
Hello, Thank you for your comments. when I opened the door, I was surprised to see that you were two people while it is clearly indicated on booking and in the reservation you made, that this room is provided for one person only. You told me you changed your plans! But I couldn’t make a decision and asked you to wait while I phoned the landlord. Finally everything went well and you could occupy the room. That’s why I was surprised by your negative comments. We did everything to make your stay pleasant and your partner told me that everything was going well. Given the circumstances, your score of 2,5/10 for comfort is quite shocking. I suggest you, in the future, to choose accommodation for two people and no for one if you are two people. It will suit you better. Thanks for taking care of the room.

bathroom is shared, may need to wait in the morning and evening.

Verified reviewVery nice and comfortable room. The attention of the person who receives you is very good.
The wooden floor of the house creaks a lot and from the bed you can hear the movements of the other tenants. The cleanliness of the bathroom, since it is shared, depends on the care of the other tenants.

Verified reviewWhen the heating was broken, the owner came quickly and fixed it. The kitchen facilities are reasonable and the shower in the shared bathroom works well. This would be suitable for people on medium term stays in Brussels, not for a holiday.
The room was cold (heating was initially broken, fixed as soon as I reported it on second day and warmed up a bit), the walls are very thin and I could hear the person next door on the phone for hours. The toilet is downstairs and through the kitchen, which is a long way to go at night.
Hello, Sorry for your bad experience. The heating has never been broken but is at 20 degrees and does not exceed this temperature for obvious reasons. For walls, they are thin and we invite people to make little noise which is often the case. Do not hesitate to tell me if there is noise. I intervene immediately. In fact, I think the service is good for the price. one is less than 50€ a night in a city at an average price of 250€. In the future, I suggest you simply triple your budget. We want to offer people the best possible while staying on a low budget. we rent guest rooms and I think it was a choice for you that was not adequate
