How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewService at the restaurant was good but the meal was relatively poor.
The chef obviously tried to offer adventurous cuisine but had a rather heavy hand. The ‘beef ravioli’ with heavy and slightly congealed sauce was a disaster But we appreciated the advice on wine which was good
Dear Guest, Thank you for providing us with your feedback, it is always gratefully received. We are thrilled you appreciated our distinctive service approach that makes Château de Namur memorable. Our team takes pride in crafting personalised experiences, and we're delighted this resonated during your visit. The wine recommendations from our sommelier trainees reflect our commitment to pairing exceptional local vintages with moments of discovery. We regret some culinary aspects didn't meet expectations. Our kitchen team continuously refines their techniques while mentoring future chefs, and we'll review your observations carefully. Lastly, it's rewarding to know our wine guidance enhanced your experience. We source these selections from passionate Walloon producers who share our dedication to excellence. We look forward to welcoming you back again in the future. Kind regards, Cédric VANDERVAEREN, Manager

Verified reviewThe personnel is very polite and attentive. The hotel building and the neighborhood around was exceptional. It was quiet in the hotel and pleasantly cool inside the room.
The public transport connection to the hotel was limited - the cable-way is working until 6pm, the bus comes every hour and works until 7:15pm. The bikes are available for rental, but going uphill each evening is hard, also there are (almost) no dedicated bike paths in the area which makes it less safe. If you don't come by car - prepare to walk a lot.
Dear Stanislav, We are delighted to hear about your experience at Château de Namur. It is wonderful that you appreciated aspects of your stay with us. Our team takes great pride in maintaining both our historic property and its surroundings, and we are pleased this contributed to your comfort during your visit. While we regret any inconvenience regarding local infrastructure, we appreciate your understanding that our hillside location offers unique charms. Our reception team remains available to advise guests about our electric bike rentals with prior reservation, which many find helpful for exploring the area. Finally, we are particularly glad you found tranquility in your room. Maintaining peaceful environments with optimal climate control remains a priority as we preserve this historic property for future guests. We hope to welcome you back soon. A few things...one was we had no wifi.. Netflix wouldn't connect all night.. Mosquitos in the room.. not sure if that was because I opened the windows but I woke up with over 7 bites.. Coffee machine was good.but a few extra tea bags and milk would be no harm

Verified reviewVery quiet area, lush and green. Free parking Old style hotel , room and bed very comfortable. Food was excellent. Had lunch and breakfast. Staff were lovely. It is a training school which adds a lot of charm .
A good distance from town. There is a cable car about ten min walk away which closes in the evening around 6pm I think. No signage to cable car so I had difficulty finding it even with the map provided by the hotel.. There are plenty of taxis though and reception called one for us. The cable car is nice to take during the day for river and citadel views. It brings you into the center of town.. The reception area and bar could be much nicer as are very basic. It let's the grand old building down.
Dear Daffodill, Thank you for taking the time to share your review. We're thrilled you appreciated our serene green surroundings and convenient parking during your stay. Your comfort remains our priority, and we're delighted your room provided a peaceful retreat with its plush bedding. However, we sincerely regret any inconvenience you experienced navigating our historic location. Our reception team is always available to provide personalized directions and arrange prompt taxi services for guests. Nonetheless, we're particularly grateful you highlighted our culinary offerings and the attentive care from our staff. As a training school, we take pride in nurturing passionate hospitality professionals, and your kind words about their service truly inspire us. We look forward to welcoming you for another pleasant holiday. Best wishes, Cédric VANDERVAEREN, Manager

Verified reviewSuperb quality charming hotel in an amazing location. Evening meal and breakfast were perfect. Safe and ample parking.
The property was perfect. The city of Namur however needs to educate its dog owners to be more respectful and clean up after themselves! Such a shame.

Verified reviewThe building is very beautiful and facilities and rooms were okay
My room price was €109. They send a mail after you book that there is €100 deposit required. So I pay €209 upon checking in thinking everything is settled. Then suddenly upon check-out I had to pay €109 again. So actually a deposit of €209 was required and not 100 like they said.

Verified reviewWe booked a night there ,because it sounded as though it would be good , a bit of luxury something different .the castle was big ,spacious the garden lovely .They offered us a free drink water flavoured with fruit and an apple stamped with the name of the Hotel on it when we arrived .There was a coffee machine in the room and a free bottle of water but no bottle opener . The staff were fairly helpful
We got bombarded with information on booking in ,about a 45 euro bottle of champagne in the room and other extras and we needed to give credit card details so we would be charged if we damaged or took any thing from a mini bar in the room without writing it down and a housekeeper would check the room after we left to check All we wanted to do was relax after a long day we were tired and hot ,but we felt unwelcome . The room was dated and shabby ,we had booked a twin but we were given a large double ,the bed side tables were stained and gross .The champagne fridge and mini bar fridge was very noisy ,it keeps you awake .It doesn't tell you when you book the Hotel ,yes it's in a park but up a very steep hill .

Verified reviewA perfect last night stay on our European road trip. Dinner on the terrace was lovely. Although boiling hot the air con in our rooms was on when we arrived which was very thoughtful.
We only eat light breakfasts and €25 pp I believe is a bit steep on top of the room prices, but this is a complaint we have about a lot of hotels.
