Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

NorwayBe aware that because the age and the floor plan of the building, there are some quirks, like steep stairs, bathtub in the room, and toilet in a 'closet' behind the bed. But as long as you are ok with this, I recommend this place to everyone. 🙂
Very friendly owners. Charming place with in an old building, in a part of town with an interesting history. Nice breakfast. Nice and clean room. Would stay here again.

Thailandi always prefer a shower instead of a bathtub, and the underground parking was a bit too far to drag along the luggage
the room and atmosphere brought me back to my childhood (being a 60 plusser)

United KingdomMechelen's main station is a multi-layered mess currently - Nekerspoel is closer, at 15 minutes on foot. Some will find the stairs narrow and the rooms a bit unpredictable in regard to ducking the beams.
If you are in the mood for it, this is a great property. Genuinely old, quiet and a bit rickety-rackety, it is hidden away in the old beguinage area, up cobbled streets, though walkable from the centre. Run by the owners' father with a great personal touch. Memorably quaint.

SwitzerlandIt's an old house, so expect some steep and narrow stairs! Also be aware that the room door can only be locked from the inside. I was not concerned about my belongings as there's only one other room and it was occupied by a lovely older couple.
Lovely little B&B in a nicely decorated 400 year-old house. Guests are welcomed by the owner's father, who is extremely sweet and makes you immediately feel welcome. An excellent breakfast is served in the common room, where guests also have access to tea and coffee making facilities during the day.

SpainThe room suffers a bit from space constraints, -something to be expected in an attic room-, and access requires climbing some steep stairs, but on the other hand, this condition gives a bit more charm to the experience.
Practically everything. 1. Location in the heart of a quiet nice historic quarter that is part of a World Heritage Site (flemish beguinages) not far from the cathedral and main square or the fishmarket area by the river. 2. The house keeps the authenticity and charm one expects in this kind of historic places, with a very personal decoration and details that make it cozy and interesting. 3. The breakfast was excellent. 4. Last but not least: above all the host is great, nice and helpful

United KingdomNothing- everything was perfect!!!!
This was one of the best B&B we have ever stayed at, it is ran by the loveliest man who was super polite and made the most delicious handmade breakfast at the time of our choice- the homemade yoghurt was our absolute favourite. When we were there, we walked up to a room that was decorated beautifully- high ceilings and a huge bath to relax in with a homely, wooden feel to it. We even came back 4 days later after a festival and he was delighted to let us in at 11am instead of 3pm, which we greatly appreciated. He even saved a bottle of lotion i had left for me from the previous day we stayed! This is a 10/10 location with lovely helpful staff. We will be back next year for definate!!

NorwayObs, bring wollen socks and your own shower soap. Not recommended if you can't climb some steep stairs or are scared of dogs.
Amazing old house which feels like it's barely aged the last hundreds of years. Comfortable bed and duvet, great bathtub. Very friendly local host family and easy communication ahead of stay. Good location in the old city centre. Classic Dutch breakfast.

United StatesThe location is difficult to find, like a maze in the old area in Mechelen. I would suggest you ask for a handwritten map to get to the BnB. Also the road next to the Keerdok parking garage is under construction, so it is also difficult to travel with luggage. When it rains there is construction mud everywhere.
It was an old house with modern remodeling and total comfort. The bedroom was room and the king size be very comfortable. The breakfast was excellent with home-made scrambled eggs with a variety of additional breakfast items. The owner was very welcoming.
