How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewI has been looking forward to staying here and having a meal in the restaurant. The place was reasonably easy to find and the grounds were well-maintained.
Sadly, the hotel should never have taken my reservation. It was heaving with a big wedding party and when we arrived there was just one poor lady running the wedding party, AND reception to all the guests AND the same lady was trying to find time to run the bar. We felt so sorry for her. Surely the big wedding booking wasn't a surprise to the owners, so why just one member of staff? Greed? Lack of workers in this remote rural area? Whatever the reason, they really should not have tried to fit in one more couple! So checking in and getting a drink after a long drive was not easy but having been allocated a room (I paid for a luxury room) I wished I’d stayed in reception… the poor receptionist/bar person/wedding host rushed upstairs ahead of us, saying that she needed to 'check that the room was clean' - not a good sign. We immediately realised why the lovely lady was worried - we'd been allocated a room that was uninhabitable due to the overpowering stink of raw sewage and she knew it! The hotel’s solution? Let's open a window... Dear God it was BAD. We could even 'taste' the smell. Yuk yuk yuk. My poor dear wife, where on earth had I taken her? Time was getting on but at this point we really should have cut our losses and left. But we'd been driving a long way. We were tired. Obviously we couldn't stay in the room and the hotel and dining room was very very busy with the wedding so we drove to the nearest town for dinner. Upon our return the party was still in full swing with the DJ at maximum volume. Great if you're part of the wedding, we wish the newlyweds a happy marriage. But not so great if you need to sleep and be up early. I called reception at 1am to ask when the drum and bass would stop. No reply. We got to sleep at around 2.30am. It's really not fair to squeeze in a couple of extra tourists when you're too busy to even check them in and your only room is a health hazard.

Verified reviewGreat accommodation and really enjoyed the countryside feel to the hotel. The staff were very helpful and the rooms were much larger than the photos, very clean, and very spacious. Definitely one to visit if you're looking for a country stay. They were very accommodative for our early check-out and had prepared breakfast earlier than normal for us to enjoy before we left.
Nothing.

Verified reviewI stayed here for a night last summer on my way to the UK, and virtually at the last minute (due to unsure travel plans) booked for one night again this year. Last year the only gripe I had was that the room TV wasn't tuned. This year, no problem; an array of possibilities on offer from free TV to Prime or Netflix, etc. I was very impressed by the hotel last year, and this year is no different. Excellent fine food (a mix of haute and moderne cuisine) in the restaurant, relatively economical for such a high standard of cooking and presentation. Again, a nice mix of hotel residents and local (probably regular) customers at dinner (the terrace was actually full when I arrived in the afternoon), very family friendly, with good service and, sitting outside in the garden terrace, a genuinely lovely ambience. And once again, an excellent room: very clean, very tidy, fabulous bathroom, very comfortable bed, fast WiFi, and nice touches like an Nespresso machine, free mineral water, and some yummy toffees. And, of course, a functioning Telly! This really is a great place to stay for a night, or even more. It is out of the way, in the middle of the countryside, and you need a car to get there. But it is worth it! Prices vary, of course, and it can be expensive under certain circumstances. But it is still fantastic value for money, and I will try to stay there again next August for a night on my way to my annual holiday in the UK. Even just the Chateaubriande in the restaurant makes Ferme d'Ecavéé well worth a visit!!!
NOTHING!!!

Verified reviewVery nice boutique hotel with high quality and style, nice atmosphere, great counryside location, fantastic staff and service.
Meals are very much animal product driven, no vegan options available for dinner, breakfast. It's a very good location to bike and have some outdoor activities, it would be great to have the possibility to rent a bike in a hotel or use a swimming pool/jacuzzi (swimming pool is available in the venue but not for use in April).
Best, We thank you for reporting. We are unfortunately a typical classic cuisine specialising in meat. We understand your concerns and are trying to work on them. The pool is a swimming pond and there is no impoverishment there for the protection of the plants. Hope to see you next time. Warm greetings

Verified reviewThe bed is one of the most comfortable i have ever slept in. Beautiful room, super bedlinen, spotless, beautifully furnished. Amazing surroundings, excellent food. If it was in the uk it would be a regular place to visit. Loved it. Seems in the middle of nowhere but actually only 10mins to main autoroute for Lille.
It was busy when we arrived as there was a party taking place and there was no one at reception. Someone soon came though. The signage from the road could make the entrance to the hotel clearer.
