How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThe location is amazing! 2 minutes walk from the main square and in the midst of great shopping and restaurants.
We were in a family room which had angled ceilings as it was at the top of the hotel so it made it difficult to sit and relax - you had to lay flat!

Verified reviewThe location is amazing, and the restaurant downstairs was some of the best food we had here.
The shower is in the room. I would've preferred a separate toilet/shower room.

Verified reviewThe location is perfect to visit the old centre of the city.
There was no door to the bathroom. Now do I not have much of a problem seeing and hearing my partner poop. But I would think not everyone is that close to their partner.

Verified reviewClean, quite and comfortable centrally located hotel. Room was perfect for my daughter and I, and the AC was welcomed during an unusually warm spell. The restuarant down stairs was a convenient spot for an excellent meal, and the Hotel staff were helpful with any questions we had. We were just a few minutes walk away from the high street and had a great stay.
No negatives noted.

Verified reviewLocation and style of the place was brilliant! Lovely restaurant and bar downstairs- we hadn’t quite realised this was here so would have eaten here as looked a lovely place to eat along with the menu but we already had reservations. Would definitely recommend - would be great to provide more tea and milk if at all possible - there was not enough milk for the tea and coffee provided but that was all and just a minor recommendation.
Nothing

Verified reviewIt was a lovely decorated hotel, super comfy. In a fantastic location with a beautiful view of Bruges. Any restaurants, shops, or activities where only a 5 to 10 minute walk away.
There was no elevator, so we had to carry our bags up 3 flights of stairs. There was no one at reception, but we were easily able to access our key card and got emails from the hotel in how to do so. Overall it was a fantastic stay.

The tea and coffee shelf overhung the bottom of the bed making it awkward to walk around the bed, other that that everything else was acceptable

Verified reviewThe location was perfect, just a short walk from the city center, making it easy to explore all the beautiful sights. The bed was large and incredibly comfortable, ensuring we had restful nights. Additionally, the restaurant on-site was excellent, offering delicious meals that enhanced our stay.
I was quite disappointed with my stay. First and foremost, the lack of privacy in the bathroom was unacceptable. Instead of a proper door, there was only a semi-transparent curtain, making it impossible to have any privacy while using the toilet. It was uncomfortable, and if someone had an upset stomach, it would be a nightmare.Additionally, the room was too small. You had to sit down to navigate around the bed because the desk blocked the passage. This setup is fine for solo travelers but not suitable for couples. The customer care was also lacking. I traveled with medications that required refrigeration, which I didn’t anticipate at the time of booking. I had to reach out three times for assistance. I received a vague response from a staff member named Joke, who ignored my follow-up about needing a freezer for ice packs to transport my medication. As a result, my expensive medication was ruined due to the inadequate support from the hotel.Given these issues, I wouldn't stay here again or recommend it to others when visiting Bruges.
Dear, we regret your reaction, we had given you the suggestion by email to place your medication on the ground floor in our refrigeration unit, but you did not mention this or ask at check-in that this was still desired? I consulted both my son and daughter-in-law and they did not hear anything from you either? So we don't quite understand what went wrong? Also the 2 nights you stayed with us you did not address us about this at all? We would like to know what went wrong. As for the room size, this is the basic size of a normal hotel room as listed on booking.com. Kind regards Joke Manager

Verified reviewHow the owner/manager talk with guests. If there is mistake on websites, they will take money for room and never give you back even you booked 20 min ago with sentence - too bad you overlooked! Booking was trying nicely ask them for returning the money and they did not responded at all!
Dear guests , we regret your reaction, You have had a clear conversation with the manager and the owner together on the booking platform of booking.com. You wish to check in with a pet after it is clearly stated on the platform that no pets are allowed in our hotel . You have overlooked this , this is not a misunderstanding on our part? As it is impossible for us to rent your room on the same day, we were forced to charge your room. Thank you for your understanding Manager
