Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

GermanyThere's absolutely nothing not to like about Hidden Gem. It is spotlessly clean, beautifully decorated, has comfy beds and even a fridge with a small selection of beverages should you get thirsty at inconvenient hours. Katrien received us personally, greeted us like we were old friends, and was generally very helpful. She gave us tips and directions, even had prepared a little map with the key features of Bruges. She even knew where to find the stop for the Flix Bus! :-D It's a shame we were only staying for one night as the property itself is so beautiful. We'll definitely be coming back for a longer stay. Hidden Gem is located literally opposite the main station in a small side road, but you can't hear a thing - no traffic, no trains, no people. A dream!

Staying here at Hidden Gem was no different to booking a room in a hotel. However this room and facilities surpassed a five star experience in that the host Katrien welcomed us upon arrival and proceeded to book us a table at her favourite restaurant for that evening. There was everything you needed in the room and wonderful little personal touches are available that went above and beyond any hotel or apartment I have ever been to. The host and lodgings are exceptional, and it is a short walk to the centre of Bruges.

United KingdomStayed here for 3 nights in Bruges. Great offroad secure parking. Location was great, not far from the centre, just a short nice short stroll into historic Bruges. We didn't need it but it was also very close to the bus/train station if you are arriving that way. Lovely room with Aircon, Nespresso coffee machine (with pods provided) and all you could need along with lovely helpful hosts. Would definitely use again.

United KingdomNothing to speak of, wish I could have stayed longer.
From the moment we walked in, as had a lovely handwritten sign on the wall welcoming us & directing us toward our room, was very cute to say the least. We had welcome coffees waiting for us at the Nespresso machine included which was a welcome touch indeed! It felt like a home as soon as we walked in, with a lovely garden view backing onto some forestry and a small canal. Our host was very informative, helpful regarding the roadworks & very quick to respond to me & most of all, warm and friendly!

United KingdomIt must be noted that contrary to the Booking.com description, this is NOT a bed and breakfast. Breakfast is not offered. This point was not noted until I paid, the non-refundable fee. It would be better to know this from the description so you can properly compare prices with other venues that are proper bed and breakfasts. We walked into the town to find a place for breakfast. The room was chilly when we got up at 7am, radiators were cold. The heat came on at 8am but for early risers at it being December , it made for a chilly start.
The location was perfect for walking into town. It was lovely to be able to leave our car on the driveway in this residential neighbourhood including on our day of departure. That was very much appreciated. The room was spacious and nicely decorated. The tea and coffee was a lovely welcome. The room is nicely separated from the rest of the home. You enter via the hallway but then enter through a door to a private hallway containing the toilet, shower room and bedroom.

United StatesRoom was slight small but not much different from what we have found throughout Europe. Ok for two people.
Right down the street from the train and bus station. You can walk, even with your bags. Fairly near to the city center. You can walk or bus it into the historic areas easily

United KingdomMosquitoes given its location to the canal, but room has repellent plug. Will definitely return for the Christmas markets.
Very comfortable, clean and local to the train station (4 minutes walk) and historical centre (15 minute walk). Beautiful gardens in a quiet area. The hosts were warm and welcoming. The modern facilities had a nice touch from the host, with attention to detail.

This really was a hidden gem! Katrien has thought of everything and the little details make this a wonderful place to stay. Spotlessly clean, the room was comfortable and close to the centre of Bruges, enabling us to easily walk in to see all the sights. Communication was easy and good, and the car parking space was really useful. Thank you so much for the free fridge magnet - a really thoughtful little gift as a reminder of our visit.

The park place inside the house is very practical. Arrival very well organised by our hosts with a warm welcome and small kindnesses. The centre of Bruges is just at 15 minutes walking and the way to go is very pleasant. Very beautiful garden view from the room. Very calm, not a single noise at night. In short: a must-do to for visiting Bruges.
