Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomIt’s old floor board and open plan so quite noisy when moving around at night for others sharing.
Great location, above a restaurant on the market square. Top flat spread across 2 floors/mezzanine. Great views and decked terrace off the top floor with table and chairs. One double room accessed through bath/shower room with roll top bath. Rustic with plenty of character but great value for family of 4 for 1 night. Breakfast is good but from 9am on Sundays when restaurant is opens and ordered off menu not a buffet.

CanadaNo air conditioning or fan in main room, suite was not cleaned well between guests, found some stale croissants in the cupboard, dishwasher was full of dirty dishes, hairs in bathroom, missing a towel, no dish towels, hot water in kitchen didn't work, bathtub drain slow to drain.
Great location, so central, old charm, large space.

IrelandCouch needs replacing. Not much interaction with staff. One staff member in particular was quite unfriendly.
Beautiful, spacious apartment. Quirky decor. Very comfortable beds. Location couldn't be better with fantastic views of the Grand Place. The building itself is gorgeous to look at from the outside. Bar/restaurant downstairs.

AustraliaI stayed one night in beautiful Brugge and had a truly lovely experience. Check-in was smooth and early, with a warm welcome from the friendly staff and Alan, the wonderful manager. I was offered a welcome drink, which was a nice touch. My room on level 2 had a charming La Bohème vibe—and the view over the Markt was absolutely priceless, like a million-euro postcard! The morning check-out was just as pleasant, complete with a complimentary cappuccino. Highly recommend this gem in the heart of Brugge!

United KingdomNeeds some TLC. All rather shabby, which gives impression not very clean but generally is. Simple fixes like lightbulbs, plug for bathtub and emptying cupboards and drawers of random contents would help. Drains smell. Didn’t get back to us re parking and there isn’t any. Pay car park not far away but v busy. We walked from station car park, which worked well but you don’t want to carry much luggage!
Location and view are incredible and make up for rest

NetherlandsPretty much everywhere you look was badly maintained, smelly bathrooms, calcified showers, holes in walls, peeling wallpaper, bad (broken) lighting, no plug for the bath tub, stained bedding, weird left over food in the fridge. One last complaint would be bad communication through booking.com on which we never got a response about parking options, even after asking multiple times.
Great location, Interesting interior and very friendly staff

United KingdomIt’s a little dated so could do with a bit of renovation here and there. There was also a really bad smell from the plug holes, it was pretty unbearable the first night, kept all the doors closed but then opening in the morning was horrid, just a putrid egg smell! I asked the staff if bleach could be put down the drains but I don’t think they did in the end.
The location, right on the square you can’t beat it! The room was very spacious and had everything you’d need! Was nice to have a TV to unwind after a full day of sight seeing.

AustraliaWe arrived early so left our luggage at the accommodation and went to explore the town. Unfortunately when we came back to check-in the place had had a fire and we were made to wait for hours to check in. Not anyones fault but Not a great day. The room we were eventually given was very large, but I had been looking forward to the room in the photo with the big poster bed and I was a little disappointed.
The staff were very good. The accommodation was clean and far more than what we expected. The property had a small fire that caused check in to be dekayed, After the fire, the property went out of their way to make us feel comfortable and make our wait comfortable. They gave us free drinks and dinner. Because my partner wasnt feeling the best, they gave us the first room that became available, which was a huge apartment.

United KingdomThe sofabed was a bit outdated, there were no chairs and proper table, not every lamp worked and some sockets were loose, otherwise we really enjoyed ourselves.
The location is brilliant! The view from the window was amazing. The room was magical time capsule, the staff were polite, kind and warmly welcomed us. It was fantastic to hear the horses neighing and their hooves, and the ringing of the bells. We felt like we were in medieval times.
