How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewThe apartment was fantastic. Very clean and super comfortable. It felt like home from home being here. Patrick was so accommodating and gave us lots of help during our stay as well as restaurant recommendations and advice for travel around the city. It was super close to both trams and metros as well as lovely shops and bakeries. Metro only a 5/10 minute walk and then only 10 mins into the main city. If you stay here, you have to try boulangerie gateau for amazing eclairs and baguettes. This place is amazing and we will be staying again next time we visit Brussels.

Challenging for guests with luggage (I had 2 suitcases) as the apartment is on the rooftop and the only way to get there is a (steep) stairway. 'Free' toiletries (soap, shower gel) were scarce and seemed like leftovers from previous guests.

Verified reviewExceptionally neat and clean, all you need in the kitchen, great to have a portable bluetooth speaker at my disposal, incredibly charming to listen to the rain on the roof windows. Close to lots of EC related offices, not so far from restaurant areas. Nice host, clear explanations. Whats not to like? I will be back. One of my best stays in Bruxelles - flats are often worn out, but not this one, but the charm of an old building is nevertheless preserved.
Well. The stairs are really long and nearly narrow. Greatful that the host helped me carrying my luggage at arrival.

Verified reviewThe location was excellent, and the apartment looked just like in the pictures. Patrick was kind and made sure we had everything we needed. There was enough toilet paper for all 10 days.
The building is very tall, and the floors feel unstable. You can hear the neighbors next door. The stairs are very narrow and steep. We were quite surprised by the poor quality of the floors, as you can feel them move when the neighbors walk in their apartment. The water in the apartment was unusually slippery, and we didn’t feel comfortable showering properly. During the day, the apartment was quite cold. Since we worked during the day, it would have been nice to have heated rooms. The apartment was clean overall, but some improvements are needed, especially in the bathroom, closet, and with the kitchen supplies.

Before addressing your points in detail, we would like to highlight that you did not respect the house rules. Specifically, the entrance key was not returned to the lockbox as required. This prevented the next guest from accessing the property independently and required me to make an urgent trip to the apartment. Additionally, the state in which you left the apartment was far from respectful to the cleaning staff. Could these incidents explain your remarks, which are unprecedented and appear not only surprising but also incorrect? Building structure and floors: The property is a typical historic Brussels house, full of charm and character. It is neither unstable nor unsafe, as it complies fully with all safety and stability standards. Sound insulation: Apartment living can sometimes involve ambient noise. However, soundproofing and the comfort of our Cosy Nest are priorities. Given its location on the 3rd and top floor with no direct neighbors, it is typically very quiet. Feedback from previous guests has consistently confirmed this. Stairs: The staircase design reflects the style of many buildings of this era in Brussels. It is neither narrow nor steep, and your comment is a first for us. Water quality: Your remark about "slippery water" is puzzling. We’ve verified the system, and everything functions perfectly. The water is also treated with a brand-new softener. Temperature: The heating system works flawlessly throughout the apartment and can be adjusted to your preferences. If you felt uncomfortable, we regret that this was not brought to our attention during your stay so we could have addressed it promptly instead of hearing about it after the fact. Cleanliness and amenities: Your observations about the bathroom and kitchen utensils are vague. We take great care to maintain cleanliness and ensure the apartment is well-equipped. After each stay, everything is thoroughly cleaned and inspected personally. Again, such remarks are unprecedented for us. We hope that you still found other aspects of your stay enjoyable and recommend considering accommodations that may better suit your preferences if you are looking for something less authentic to the Brussels experience. Verified reviewIt is a beautiful top floor flat in a very good area of Brussels, just a walk away from the EU quarter. There is a lovely view over the roof tops to two directions. The flat has everything one needs for a short or even longer stay, and the host is a very nice person.
The only thing I could think of is that the flat is poorly accessible if one has trouble moving around.

He is always there to support you, answers questions within a few minutes, and we have even received a small surprise to make our stay really enjoyable:) The cozy nest is a wonderful place to stay for the weekend or - i can imagine- even longer. It has everything you need to relax and forget about work... however, if you have to work, there is a comfortable desk and also good wifi connection.
