How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThis is a very impressive one off piece of art. The hotel is a delightful intrigue of style, and content and craftsmanship. The breakfast is simple and spot on for my taste. The owner has done a fantastic job creating a marvellous hotel in a great location
It is centre of old town and a very old building so some aspects like plumbing are a bit of a compromise on today’s preferences.

Verified reviewThe boss of the inn and the man in the reception are super nice, you will feel to be warmly welcomed. The decoration of the whole building is excellent, as if the inn itself is a cute museum! Location is also awesome, near to everything!
The woman serving the breakfast seemed like to swallow me at the moment when I ask for a third cup of black coffee. Actually I had only eaten a croissant with slices of cheese at the moment and nothing else. The only thing I expected for my breakfast is to drink enough hot liquid!Although the reception man had resolved my requirement, I still took half a day wondering if I am a person eating too much like this, or there should be no way that the woman acted like I were digging the base of her house! May be the breakfast is served by a different bakery other than the hotel itself. I surely will recommend the hotel to my friends but really no the breakfast.

Verified reviewThe location of this hotel is ideal if you plan to walk around the city. The restaurant on the first floor is lovely. The small balcony off the room was delightful - very nice flowers in pots everywhere.
Like many European hotels, the room space is quite small. It would be fine for a single person or couple. It would be helpful to add additional places to hang towells in the bathroom in rooms serving multiple people. The shower drain was very slow to drain. A mildewy smell in the bathroom was unpleasant.

Verified reviewThe staff were very friendly and helpful. The location was excellent.
Room was extremely small for 3 people. There was a wardrobe but it was very small and was full with extra throws/blankets. There were no hangers to hang up clothes and the one shelf in the wardrobe was broken. There was a TV in the room but there was no remote control, when I enquired at reception I was told that the remote controls were removed from the rooms as the hotel had no cable so TVs didn't work. Breakfast was ok but it was the same every day, a croissant and some bread, the breakfast room was very cramped. The beds were very uncomfortable, the mattress on my bed was lopsided so I got very little sleep during my stay. The room was so uncomfortable we couldn't relax in our room at all during the stay. I wouldn't recommend this hotel. The location is great but there are plenty other hotels nearby.

Verified reviewBecause Brussels is expensive, accommodations are a bit more affordable. The convenient location saves on transportation costs, and the simple breakfast provided makes it a great budget-friendly option. The hotel also has a beautiful interior and cute cats. The staff are friendly. The water pressure is strong and the hot water runs smoothly.
Of course, there are things to consider because it is an old building. There's no refrigerator or air conditioning, and the TV doesn't work. The mattress is soft that some people might find it unpleasant. Please note that only one shampoo is provided.

Verified reviewShambolic. 17th century dilapidated building, where everything falls apart, heavily overdecorated to cover up for the problems. The floors are sloping bad, nothing is plumb, very poor fittings and fixtures. Noisy, smelly and hot: nil air-conditioning anywhere. The owner rudely tries to convert you to islam, praising arabs, loving Palestinians and openly telling you that his religion (islam) is superior to Christianity. Don't be fooled by his charms. The rooms are makeshift, the beds are rock hard, inconvenient to try to sleep on, and even if you could sleep, the heat, noise and smells will keep you awake. During breakfast their staff will prepare a plate of bread, cheese and croissants and that is what you will have to eat. Nil choice. Dirty plates, hair on cheese, mugs are visibly dirty, and they serve an awful instant coffee, without any other choices. If you dare to ask for anything you will be referred to consult a menu at breakfast time, and for a fee serve you with what is cheekily on display.
Being preached on religion, politics and cultures by the owner, who is always around. Intolerant, rude an incompatible values towards European standards. Being talked to as being talked down to. Staff serving you substandard food and drinks, without choice or asking for your consent. Being taken advantage of. Being unable to use bathroom facilities, which have been leaking and out of plumb, flowing in the wrong direction, not draining properly. Soap dispenser in shower and sink filled with some nasty cheap liquid, unfit for purpose. Being unable to sleep on the beds due to their Mohs hardness rating between graphite and limestone, because of the unclosable windows, no noise insulation, noise from both inside the building and from the street and the overwhelming smells of deep fried oil fat lingering in the air...
