Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

HungaryThis hostel perfectly suited my needs for a central place to crash for an affordable price. I'd absolutely tell other backpackers about it, and recommend it to anyone looking for a place to stay in this incredible city.

NetherlandsThe light at the entrance needs to be on so people can find it. The building next door is being renovated, so that can be misleading. City tax has to be paid by card.
Perfect for 1 or 2 nights. It was clean when I got there. Enough space in the bathroom. Not easy to find, but very close to Grand Place, restaurants and public transport.

BrazilI was quite disappointed with a few things during my stay. The curtain on the bed was too short, leaving gaps, and my bed was not completely against the wall, which created space for people to see me. Since my bed was right at the entrance and near the bathroom where everyone passed by, I didn’t feel comfortable at all. On top of that, there was a lot of noise during the night, with people talking loudly and not showing respect for those who were trying to sleep. Another big downside was the luggage policy — if you arrive earlier or want to check out before your bus/flight, you have to pay €3 per bag to store them. Honestly, I found that unreasonable.
The location is excellent, close to everything I needed and very convenient for exploring the city. I also appreciated having a bathroom in the room — it made the stay much more comfortable. Overall, the hostel was cozy and comfortable.

HungaryIt's super noisy at night and no air-conditioning in the rooms. If we open the windows it's super loud outside.
The location is amazing and you get what you are paying for. There are curtains providing more privacy.

United StatesThe hostel is not the most modern or spacious. The elevator and common areas are small, and the breakfast room has limited amenities—no sink or tap to refill water bottles.
I’ve stayed twice at SafeStay Brussels and overall it’s a solid choice. The hostel is well-kept, secure, and in a fantastic central location—walking distance to attractions, shops, restaurants, and public transport. Staff member Jenny stood out for her kindness and professionalism. When a male guest mistakenly booked an all-female dorm, she went out of her way to find a solution instead of just turning him away. The dorms have privacy curtains, plenty of showers and bathrooms (two each in the 8-bed dorm), and free luggage storage for guests (€3 for non-guests). Overall: For a budget stay, it’s clean, comfortable, and safe, with a standout location and one exceptional staff member who made my experience memorable.

IndonesiaIt was very loud with the windows open and I didn't get good sleep. The breakfast could be better with boiled eggs and some salad or fresh fruit and vegetables. The bed could have a platform to put phone, wallet, accessories and a place to hang towels. To charge phone, etc.
The bed and facilities were good and clean.

United KingdomI had a bed in a shared dorm, the rest of the girls had a privacy curtain but I didn’t, so I woke up every time someone turned the light on. The last night of my stay a male was put into our room, even though we booked female only, the member of staff sorted this and removed him but it was upsetting that he was put in the room in the first place.
The location is central and easy to access places. Like the room key on phone.

CanadaThe place has the basic necessities, but the establishment is rather old and there aren’t any social places or common areas except for the breakfast room. So don’t expect a social hostel. It’s more like a place to sleep and move on the next day. Which is exactly what I did. I decided. I wanted to stay another day in Brussels, but I changed my place the next day.
The location is very central and you are close to anything that you need within walking distance. You have a nice view of the old town from the window at least I had from another room that I was staying at .
