How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. I have already requested for the refund. The TV was removed, the duvet was covered with blood stains, non of facilities advertised was provided, no curtains on the windows so no privacy and both my emails and phone calls were ignored. Our holiday was completely ruined. I came back with pains as o can not be able to sleep

Verified reviewThe location was in the heart of the city. The towels and bed sheets were ok.
Please be aware that this property has some problems. The cleaning is not ok, some parts inside the premises are damaged. We are not responsible for what we found inside this apartment. I will add some pictures with the proof. In the evening we get to this property the access code to the main entrance building door was not working. We stayed more than one hour in the street. We have two kids with us and this situation was very uncomfortable. We tried the code several times, we even tried to call the property but no answer. I wanted to report there was a problem with the access code - I was misguided and very confusing information was provided to me regarding the access codes. In my account on their platform for check-in I have received a different access code than the access code received on the email. I want to report this because they should not misleading guests with wrong and confusing access information. The main door opened after more than 20 attempts...and this situation is not normal when you wait with 2 kids in the street at 10 pm in the night. This problem should be fixed and they should be more careful with the information they provide to the guests.

Verified reviewC'était mauvais Booked for 3 nights, and I can boldly say it is the worse accommodation we have ever stayed. First, the code for the front door did not work. No one was around, luckily someone was coming out, so we got in. Upon entrance, it smelt so badly you will think a dead animal was stowed somewhere under the stairs. The elevators did not work either, so we had to endure walking up the flight of smelly stairs to our place on the 3rd floor. The house itself was not clean. It was so irritating. The couch had stains on it. In one of the rooms, foil paper was used as a window blind. The other room that had the balcony was nothing like the pictures. Generally, the place was poorly maintained. We complained and nothing was done for the 3 days spent, but at 10:34am on check out day, a man came into the room without knocking to ask us to check out. Check out was at 11am. It baffles me how one can have property in a good location but refuse to maintain it. I generally never leave bad reviews but if I can give this accommodation a minus 100, I would.

Verified reviewThank you for making us struggle for the last few days and making us have the worst holiday possible. The lift wasn’t working and we had to walk up and down 80+ stairs. I mentioned that my child has a disability and couldn’t walk much and I also couldn’t pick him up because he’s 6 years old and I would’ve had a backache but still nothing was done and we had to struggle the whole week. We complained to the smartflats many times but they kept telling us that they’ll get back to us but no one got back to us. The apartment wasn’t like it’s shown in the picture. Nothing was working including the tv, Wi-Fi, microwave. And the curtains were broken so they decided to put foil on it. There were mosquitoes everywhere in the building. Whenever we would enter the building there would be a horrible smell that we were unable to bear it for even few seconds. Overall the biggest problem was my child had an eye infection, mosquito bites everywhere and now he’s unwell. I will never recommend this to anyone.

First of all, they gave us the wrong door codes, we had to reach out to them for almost 1 hr to get them on the phone. They give new codes and SURPRISE!!!!!!!! we have 8 LUGGAGES carry.... well NO ELEVATOR WORKING!!!! AND IT STINKS YOU JUST WANT TO VOMIT!!!!! WELL. COMING STRAIGHT FROM THE AIRPORT.... WE HAD NO OTHER CHOICE BUT TO STAY THERE!!!!
WE TRY AS MUCH AS WE CAN TO CARRY THE HEAVY LUGGAGES WITH 2 BABIES IN HANDS UP THE LONGST FLIGHT OF STAIRS...... AND GUESS WHAT AGAIN.... THEY GOT US THE WRONG APPARTMENT !!!! WE HAD PAID $1100 FOR 9 DAYS FOR AN APPARTMENT WITH A TERRASSE!!!! WE DIDN'T GET THAT ONE!!! wE FINALLY SEE THE APPARTMENT AND NO WI-FI WHATSOEVER!!! NO INTERNET CONNECTION FOR THE KIDS TO WATCH TV, WE HAD COME FROM CANADA SO, NO SIM CARDS, WE HAD TO USE OUR ROAMING DATA AND SERVICES TO REACH CUSTOMER SERVICE, ONLY FOR THEM TO TELL US THAT NOT ONY HAVE TO USE OUR OWN INTERNET TO TAKE PICTURES OF WHAT WAS WRONG SO THAT THEY FIX A PROBLEM THAT WAS NEVER FIXED UNTIL WE LEAVE!!!! WORST SERVICE...NO NO NO... WORST EXPERIENCE SOMEONE CAN HAVE ON VACATION.... BECAUSE NO SERVICE AT ALL!!!!

The communal areas are dirty, nobody cleans, there was broken glass on the stairs, cages of dirty laundry permanently blocking the main entrance of the building, blocking the staircase access and the lift doors, the lift doesn’t work, no internet in my flat from the second day onwards, the tv doesn’t work, nobody available in the support line, I spent huge amounts of my time calling the support line to get someone to get me the Wi-Fi fixed all I got was silence, empty promises, lies, and even a rude staff telling me blatantly that there would be nobody to help me, period.

The entire room had gouges in the floor an walls. Multiple stains from water damage and the door to the balcony was broken. Hallway lights outside the room were broken. Significant safety hazards.

We booked for 4 people and there was just towels and sheets for 2 people, the sofa bed was broken and impossible to use, and there were pieces of wood screwed to the entry door side. Staff responded quickly but didn’t helped with anything, so the other 2 people needed to find another solution for the night.
