Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

PolandThere was no such thing. We did have a slight problem with finding the keys but received help very quickly :).
The apartment was very spacious and clean. Equipped with everything we could need and more. The host also answered all of our questions fast. It's located in a very quiet part of the city but at the same time only minutes away from the beautiful city centre, shops and restaurants.

United StatesNothing.
The apartment was perfect for our stay in Ghent. Location - near the tram stop and located near a local bakery and restaurants. It was also an easy walk into town. Apartment was clean and well stocked, with linens. Although I didn't prepare any meals, the kitchen had everything you would need to cook a meal. The owner was very responsive and friendly.

South Africathe bathroom has a terrible damp smell and it is on suite to the main bedroom. thus if you leave the door open to try air it out the whole bedroom smells. we opted later to keep the door shut but the smell was terrible. there is no kettle. the tap is supposed to give boiling water but its not hot enough for a cup of tea. i recommend a kettle is added to the kitchen.
very spacious. kitchen well equipped with all you need but no kettle/boiler). nicely decorated and not too far from the city centre. tram stops very close to the apartment which is convenient if you plan to use the train to get there.

AustraliaNo parking anywhere near by. main carpark is only 600m away but to drive to it is nearly 6km and 20min drive due to the cities unique one way and pedestrian system! However if you don't have a car with you then it's the ideal place to be able to walk to everything.
Fantastic new apartment, excellent facilities, has everything you need for a mini home away from home. High end appliances, location was great for walking into centre of Gent.

United KingdomWe loved our stay in Ghent. The apartment itself was very modern, and was equipped with everything we needed for our short stay, including a high chair and cot for our 1 year old. It has a kitchen and laundry facilities so it would also be suitable for longer stays. It was super easy to get to by tram from Gent-Sint-Pieters, and not too far away from the city centre (even with a pushchair over the cobbles). Anja the host communicated all the details in good time.

AustraliaThe bathroom unfortunately had a pungent strong odour of damp and mould which made it difficult to be in the room or to even have that door open. A functional exhaust would make a difference. Everything else was great!
The whole apartment was great, it had everything you need and was very comfortable, the kitchen was very well equipped, beds super comfy, heating great, decor great, location great.

SpainThe heating, while effective, is a bit noisy.
The apartment was recently renovated, and it's both awesome and stylish. It's equipped with everything you might need, making it feel like a home away from home. Features include a large TV screen, WiFi, a printer, an automatic coffee machine with beans, essential kitchen supplies, blankets for the couch, board games, and toys for both children and grown-ups. It's an ideal space for families, couples, and even singles. The location is ideal, situated in the quiet city center just a few meters away from a tram stop.

CanadaThere was not a lot of English instructions or info but we figured most things out. There was an occasional sewer smell in the apartment...sometimes stronger than others...I noticed Ghent in general has this smell...it would not deter us from booking again.
We could not figure how to pay for the tram so we walked...honestly...I think it was almost as fast and we got to see the neighbourhood on the way. We just had carry on so dragging checked luggage might have been a pain. We stayed 8 nights and probably would have felt claustrophobic in a hotel room...this was like home. Well stocked...great coffee machine (with coffee), fridge, kitchenware, toiletries etc.

AustraliaThe lack of response from the owner who decided her holidays were more important than responding to her guests, the fact that the apartment was only set up for non-English guests (very few instructions in English), bath towels were the size of hand towels, the television didn’t work, the washing machine and dryer again was difficult to use with proper instructions
The location was its most redeeming feature

United StatesMy only two complaints are that 1) the apartment has no AC, which was fine during the day, but it made sleeping in the apartment a little difficult during the night, and because the apartment is on the ground floor, I could not open the windows without creating a security risk; and 2) the main bathroom is interior-facing with no vents or fans, and the smell of mold was sometimes strong (however, I did not see actually any black mold growth). Because the bathroom is off of the bedroom, it was unpleasant to be smelling bathroom mold while I was trying to sleep. I can also see this becoming a health hazard in the future.
The location is close enough to the city center to be convenient, but far enough to be quiet. I loved the apartment's living room and kitchen, and the amount of amenities provided were excellent. The apartment is very big!

United StatesThe listing included AC, but the apartment didn’t have it. We likely wouldn’t have booked without air conditioning and we needed it as it was mid-80s during the day and didn’t significantly cool at night. We did open the windows, but the alleyway outside the apartment gets a lot of sun during the day and didn’t provide much air flow.
Apartment was in a good location - around a 10-min easy tram ride from the train station and then a 10-15 minute walk to central Ghent. There are also some bakeries and restaurants a block away from the restaurant, but we walked into town each day and didn’t try them. The apartment also had a washer and dryer, which is one of the reasons we selected this property. It was clean and comfortable and had nearly everything we needed for our 3-night stay.
