How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewGreat place with easy access to the city centre. The property itself is very charming with a loft bed that our children really enjoyed. The place is very spacious and has lots of natural light that makes it feel welcoming. Great and timely communicaton as always. Highly recommended.
Would be great to have a bit more in the kitchen in terms of utilities, but that did not bother us as we were out and about. Not a big deal to be honest.

Verified reviewReally clean apartment with everything you need for a short stay in Bruges. The location is good - quiet as it's out of the centre and a relatively short walk in Bruges. The water and fans provided really helped with the hot weather. Romy & Travis provided so much good information to help plan our stay, they were so helpful!
Not much privacy if you are a group of 4 - there is only a curtain between bedrooms and you have to walk through one bedroom to reach the bathroom.

Verified reviewA tidy apartment, with strictly what you need. Communication with the owner was excellent, we got a lot of info about the location and attractions sent in advance. The bus station (no. 60), that connects with railway station and Flibco shuttle is 3 min walk away. The historic city center is 15 min walk away, no need for bus.
The negative: nesspreso capsules are very few, only 4 provided for 4 persons and 4 nights, and because no housekeeping was performed during the stay we had to ask the owner to provide more. No big deal, there is a Carrefour Market nearby, we bought from there, sugar too. The same for toilet paper. The kitchen should have something to chop vegetables on.

Verified reviewWe really enjoyed the comfortable beds, bedding, layout of the flat. Hot shower, lovely kitchen.
It would be good before we stay to be aware of the room allocated. The only concern we had was no sofa to sit on. I contacted the hosts to see if we could move rooms but they fully booked, however they put a really comfy chair in one of the rooms so my father could be comfortable. This was a fantastic gesture and one we really appreciated.

Verified reviewLocation is good for getting to all the tourist spots in Bruges. Spacious, bright rooms with comfortable beds and a fully equipped kitchen. There is a coffee machine and capsules, and a bakery across the street. Helpful host, making you feel welcome.
Soundproofing, but the hosts provided earplugs.

Verified reviewLocation
Not clean at all. Halfway through the stay, we ended up without hot water, resulting in having to pay for a room in a hotel to get ready as we also had a young child under the age of one. Broken bowl left in the kitchen cupboard from pervious stay. I'm assuming, and the kitchen was filthy, dust everywhere. The stairs leading up to the apartment are steep and narrow, not recommended for a young family.

Unfortunately there is a building site next door and no one told us about it . Drilling and bricklaying each day . The house next door has no windows or roof etc.

Verified reviewLocation
First of all, we didn’t receive the room we based our booking on, despite having received pictures of the correct room we wanted. Our room, No. 3, had all windows facing very noisy traffic from the main road, especially very early in the morning. Additionally, there was ongoing full-house refurbishment work next door, starting early in the morning as well. Some of the kitchen equipment showed significant signs of wear, not usable…

Verified reviewThe location was close enough to walk into the city centre, there was also a great bakery just down the road. The rooms were spacious too
The beds were very squeaky and if that didn't keep us up the noise from the traffic outside was loud (they do provide ear buds to help though) and the noise from the upstairs flat was loud too. The shower plug was blocked so the water filled up and spilled over the basin onto the floor. The kitchen has everything you need apart from an oven, which would be useful. We stayed as a family with two young children, there was a 40€ charge for the cot which was expensive and the stairs to the flat are very steep so impossible to get the pram up the stairs. As the living room had been converted into a bedroom there was sadly nowhere to seat to watch the TV really (other than the table or bed).
