How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThere’s nothing to like, the entire property is dirty.
No proper washroom for both girls and boys. Bed isn’t clean, looks very shady. Highly recommend not to book the hostel

Verified reviewStaff was friendly, unfortunately this was the only thing i like.
1. Staff really struggle to speak "English" 2. Room and Hostel door should have a key, which wasn't the case which means anybody can enter any room, sometimes hostel door was closed but honestly if someone press the bell they will open it for sure without looking who has done, so a big question mark if this hostel is secure or not. No disrespect to people because they were nice but somehow incompitent. 3. Mattress of the bed was not comfortable at all and beds itself are also not strong enough so if you got the lower bed, you will always be afraid that person on the above bed might fell over you at anytime because the base of beds looks and sounds really weak. 4. Shower rooms were not clean at all, and no hot water there is only one button from where only cold water is coming, i don't know how it is in winter though. 5. I didn't find anybody interesting in my room to do a conversations, looks like everybody was a local living for many days in Brussels while looking for a jobs and stuff. 6 and so on: I can still say many things but i think this is enough

Verified reviewIt had access to a train station by a 10-15 minute walk
The toilets were a mess! No papers or hand soap :( ( although they provide me the paper when I asked) The two toilets on my floor didn’t work, I had to ho upstairs. Very narrow aisle, they didn’t assign a bed, just tell me to go in the room and choose an empty bed. The cleanness of the bed can be questionable without assigning imo. Very uncomfortable experience, but I can use it for storytelling :)

Verified reviewGood location in Bruxelles, neighbourhood is fine (there's worse in Bruxelles), there's a carrefour express nearby for groceries and all the main public transportation lines are nearby. The kitchen was fine, it was missing some stuff but we only needed a pot and colander. Some basic necessities were gently provided by the stay such as salt and dish soap. The women bathroom was clean enough to shower which was nice and not to be taken for granted in an hostel, something we can't say for the mixed bathrooms.
The place was FILTHY up to the brim. Our lineage wasn't changed when we arrived and we had to ask for new one. There was also a stain of god knows what on the pillow but it was covered by the pillow casing. One of the pillows was actually a sofa pillow and was too small for the casing. The worst part is that during the last night it RAINED INSIDE. We were staying in the twin bed room which is right below the roof and once it started raining water POURED in our room like a waterfall. The floor was completely wet and our bags got soaked too. We had to move the bed from the wall but it wasn't enough, the water was EVERYWHERE. During this fun inconvenience we discovered a hair ball under our bed. This is TOTALLY a fire hazard, as water poured nearby electrical outlets. The room was also missing a lightbulb and the outlet prongs were exposed. On the second day of our stay we were pleased to find an empty toilet paper entrenched with someone's waste in the bathroom near our room.

I didn’t like that the view from the window was literally someone’s men’s underwear hanging outside. The room had nothing but a bed, a broken TV, and some random pouffe—there wasn’t even a hanger or a shelf for clothes. The shower and toilet didn’t lock, there was no hot water in the shower, and there wasn’t even any soap in the toilet. There was a dead cockroach on the bed linen, and the room had a strange smell. There wasn’t even a room number on the door; they could’ve at least drawn one with a marker.

Verified reviewI had no money and urgently needed a place to stay. I thought it would be enough for the place to have 4 walls and a bed. The score of the hostel was already too low, and when I had no expectations, it didn't look too bad for a moment. The location wasn't bad at all. The price was okey.
It wouldn't be my first choice, or the third! Yes, it had 4 walls, but there was an extra door in the room, which didn’t make sense at first. Then I realized it was opening to another room, room in a room! How weird is that! Toilets were not in the rooms and were not so clean, beds were not very comfy. The hotel was smelly! It goes on like this…
