Close to the beach and market

Location, pool, staff, cats. Nice

No reception. Wasn't keen on messaging the manager online instead.

Everything was very good except 2 nights where we had some issues with one of the next door neighbors they listening to very loud music and they didn't want to turn it down and we couldn't find someone from the staff to make them turn it down

The apartment is very light and spacious, well positioned for the sun and with beach views. The hosts are really helpful and responsive both with messages and on the phone. The cleaning staff were also very friendly and efficient. The bedding and towels were changed after 3 days which was most appreciated. There is air conditioning in the living room and in one of the bedrooms. There is a lift which is very useful for the luggage. There is a supermarket, several restaurants and other amenities close by. It is only a 20 min leisurely walk to the old town along the beach.

As part of the check-in process a deposit of 300 lv in cash is required as a security against damage. This by itself was not a big issue but it was really not clear what damage would qualify for withholding the deposit. The example that was given to us was concerning as it involved a dispute whether a damage to the washing machine was caused by people staying in the apartment. Appliances break no matter how you use them and we were too worried to use the washing machine. Also, there was no list with inventory or a handover so we did not know whether there may be a claim for missing property at the end. Ultimately there was no issue at all but the uncertainty caused some anxiety. On the first day we discovered that the toaster was not working and that was replaced immediately so issues were resolved very quickly. It would be helpful to have clearer instructions and inventory of what is provided in the flat. There were also some minor maintenance issues such as the door handle to the living room was loose and sometimes fell off.

Owner/contact person very kind and helpful, easy to deal with. We felt that they did everything they could to make us feel comfortable: very flexible and accomodating with early checkin/late checkout/luggage storage, light bulb exchanged in 30 mins after we sent message that it was out. Definitely will return!

The apartments are less than a 5 minute walk from the beach. There are supermarkets, restaurants and a medical centre nearby. The pool at the facility was very clean. Our room was very affordable.

Some items in our room could be changed - the drying rack for tje clothes was rusty, and so was the toilet paper holder. The fridge had yellow stains, and the shower head was leaking on the side when we turned on the water. Nothing fatal, just a few little improvements can be made.

The room had facilities and was nice and clean. Pool was perfect and plenty of sunbeds. Room was cleaned and towels provided every couple of days.

A microwave would have been good. There were not enough utensils such as sharp knives and cooking utensils.

Lots to like here. Excellent location just yards from the superb South Beach. Great sea view - if you keep your eye line up away from road level (see below for further info on this). Two balconies. Comfortable bed, ample wardrobe space, good shower. Air conditioning in both living area & bedroom. Small but very good pool - well maintained & quite a lot of sunbeds/deckchairs & shady umbrellas. Indeed the whole building & grounds are really well looked after. Liked the security of the site with fob access to entrance gate & lift. Close to numerous restaurants & a decent little supermarket. Good transport links with bus stops at the end of the street. Pleasant manager.

Back to the view. Though it is isn’t the fault of Kristal Beach it was hard to overlook the large ramshackle yard immediately below us, which seemed to be where beach refuse was collected & taken to plus piles of sun loungers in various stead of repair. Dilapidated to the point of looking virtually abandoned. It really was an eyesore in an otherwise great view. The pictures shown on Booking.com do not reflect what we actually saw from our balcony. No sign of all the wrecked sunbeds & large overflowing skips. I don’t know when these were taken (& presumably supplied by Kristal Beach) or if there was a special tidy up for them! On a similar theme were the large overflowing municipal rubbish skips & piles of black bin bags surrounding them. Regarding the apartment we would have liked slightly more comfortable seating on the balcony & in the living area. For the price paid we’d have expected a little more luxury/comfort. The apartment could sleep 4 with the sofa bed but this was the only comfy seating & would certainly be cosy for 4! For 2 it was okay.
