Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

US Virgin IslandsWhile I do appreciate being upgraded to a larger room and having a run of the property due to being the only guests on site, I'm quite disappointed the room's mattresses appeared worn, uneven, heavily used/old and sleep quality was not good at all and the house smell - the burnt, musty wood permeates the entire house - was overwhelming. However, I believe the flue (chimney) getting a good cleaning would solve the issue. The back porch/yard requires cleaning for maximum comfort, having to step on rotting fruit alongside the side/rear of the house to get to the car or having leaves/dust all over backyard seating may be quaint, but it would have made for a more comfortable stay not to do so. I'd love to give it a much higher rating, but these issues weighed heavily on the stay
Beautiful historic home with all the necessary amenities in an amazing architectural reserve. Quiet area, on-site and off-site parking. Friendly, helpful staff. The drive there from either direction was stunning. Nearby ethno-centers, untouched forests and hill-side views are a bonus along the route to this remote area. Area spa town, historic woodworking town and scenic church with half hour.

BulgariaThe house is excellent, tastefully decorated in Renaissance period style. The location is superb - quiet; yet, close to everything. There is a full kitchen, dish washer and clothes washer, a wonderful yard with seats for many guests. One of the rooms has a private balcony (Chardaka).

BelgiumThe extra bed we asked was very small. Its an iron bed with springs and small mattress you can put on top. I managed to sleep, but a bigger person would not be able to sleep there. Only negative i could say, the rest of the stay was great and exceeded expectations. Great stay.
Wonderfull house and interior. Very calm and great garden to relax with family. The kitchen was very complete, good bathrooms. We had the room with balcony, the balcony was awesome... all round great value and stay!

BulgariaNothing really.
Everything was perfect. Our stay at Stefanina Guest House was lovely. The house is located in the center of the village. All you need for a short or long stay is available. The rooms are clean and decorated with style. The garden is beautiful, peaceful, and equipped with a pizza oven and BBQ. There is even a water fountain in the garden. Everything was just perfect!

RomaniaThe location set on google maps is wrong. It appears in the center of the village, but in fact is far away, up on a hill. If the weather is good and your car is not so low, you can go all the way and park in the yard. We arrived after a soundly rain and the road was a little torrent. Fortunately, it is all solid rocks, not grass or dirt, so we could walk up easily, only wetting our feet a bit. Anyway, entrance by cars in the village is strictly controlled. Only residents and over night guests are allowed and their cars must be parked in limited areas or in the court of the house, not on street. Visitors left their cars outside the village. There is another minus, related to the work program of the restaurants. Being such a remote village, or because of other reasons, they are not open full time. We arrived Sunday in the afternoon and by the evening many of them closed and told us they are not open Monday morning. Practically, Monday morning was only one coffee shop open at 8.30. One or two restaurants opened after 10.30.
Everything was perfect. A little dusty, but with a cute retro style. Location is in a remote area, far from center and noise. Every detail in decoration is carefully chosen: from fine, handmade curtains to old furniture amazingly restored, from nice little decoration objects to kitchen tools and traditional carpets and blankets, etc, etc The house has 4 bedrooms and a big shared living room with open kitchen and a terrace. The courtyard is green, full of flowers, trees and again many decorations. Our room had a big balcony, more like a private terrace, furbished with sofa, coffee table, chairs and even an old wood cradle. Bathrooms are small but well designed and keeping the same retro style. They do not offer breakfast but it can be taken down in the center at a restaurant or can be prepared by yourself in the kitchen, which is well equipped.
