The wifi was a problem, it was not there when I checked it but the hotel staff was kind to offer me his sim card. Later in the day, the wifi was sorted but it was not stable inside the room. No hot water and no soap or shampoo given but not a major issue.

The friendliness of the staff and affordability of the room. It was easy to walk upto the main road about 10mins and take a bus to the city centre. The property was easy to find and access during my stay. No air condition in the room but the fan was good enough. I recommend this place.

This is far from center. coming to center most take taxi which is expensive or bus which is difficult. Hotel is good for people wants to be in that area. I found much better (real hotel) in city for 20 $. If adding taxi transport to 15 $ this hotel then it will be more than 20 $. Remember in Bujumbura there is not public 🕯️ light night time in street, then night time most come by taxi. WiFi never worked ...

It can be a little bit hot in the room sometimes, there is a fan but it works on solar. Sometimes it shuts off in the middle of the night

I arrived one hour after check in time, and the staff waited for me to welcome me and show me my room. The location is very lovely, not in the big city but the city still easy to reach. At this place you see more of the local life, that is something i personally really like. The food is okay, not special but everything else exceeded my expectations. All the staff is extremely friendly and helpfull. It feels like a warm bath, a family. Booked 2 nights, ended up Staying 5. Would highly recommend this place!!!

    Nothing to complain about.

Its a very basic but clean place to stay in a safe and friendly neighbourhood. The staff were very helpful and were very quick in replying to my questions before my visit. Breakfast which was served in another property, located about 20 metres away, was tasty and they also had a lovely bar where you could sit on the terrace and watch the world go by. It's a 20usd taxi ride from the airport and is very good value for money.

Impossible to find on your own, you have to pay somebody to show you where the place is. Location on booking not accurate. Wifi terrible. Staff terrible. No comfort at all. This is probably the most overrated accommodation I have ever stayed in, people probably give them high rate because they’re fondation. Highly religius people, so much fanatics that they are taking guests’ comfort through a pretension of religion. At the check out they demanded 10$ more than booking price. I would never stay there again.

If in want of a local experience in the true Buja, this is a place - surrounded and served by, communicating and smiling with the wonderful people of Burundi. Very reasonable priced and fairly simple but with everything working and clean, the best thing is the great welcome and open arms of the people.

    1. It lacks any kind of atmosphere 2. The staff dont speak english, are difficult to communicate with and not particularly helpful 3. The wifi sometimes works 4.The restaurant is way overpriced. Its between 2 to 3 times more expensive than other places 5. The food isn't particularly good 6. No free breakfast available as advertised and no apology 7. The location is awful. No food within walking distance. Leaving you with the over priced restaurant as your only choice. Look if you are really on a tight budget this may be your only choice on booking.com.

Its cheap only that. I have travelled 132 countries and use booking.com a lot. This place is probably the most over rated i have seen. Maybe its because its run by a foundation so people give it high scores because of that but i prefer to keep it real. This place is bad.

I spent ten days at the Maison d'Accueil (aka "Maison du Passage") in Kamenge with my girlfriend. It's a practical and respectable accomodation for travellers, in a very safe and lively neighborhood. The Maison has a kitchen and can prepare breakfasts, dinners and lunches if required. Around the corner (50 meters away) there also is a fully fledged bar and restaurant run by the same organization (Bar Oasi Amahoro). The personnel of the maison is utterly welcoming, friendly and helpful. They speak French, Italian, and some English - beside Kirundi. The personnel can support you in finding local drivers and guides to visit Bujumbura and the nearby hills and provinces. Notice that this is a non-profit, social impact business: the Maison is managed by Fondazione San Filippo Neri, based in Bujumbura, yet with an Italian founder (padre Luigi Vitella). The Foundation supports Burundian orphans, widows, and disadvantaged people and families. The activity of the Maison (and of the Amahoro bar) is aimed at funding the Foundation and promoting employment and economy in this part of the city. In case you are interested to know more about their activities and projects, the Maison's personnel can organize presentations and guided tours. Strongly recommend for travellers and people seeking to understand the the culture, the recent history and the present of Burundi.
