Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaThere is no heating - they need to amend the hotel description so people are aware of this. There was a lack of transparency about payment. They wanted to charge me more than what it was advertised for simply because I was a foreign citizen and not Bolivian. They need to be consistent and transparent in relation to payment. The main negative was my room was extremely loud from traffic noise. I was barely able to sleep because of this. Maybe ask for a room further away from the street.
Great location, very clean, comfortable bed, super cute dogs, excellent breakfast.

CanadaI had 2 nice hot showers there and 3 not-hot showers. They tried to tell me it was because I had a shower too early in the morning, but I also had one at 8:30 am and in the late afternoon and they did not get hot either. You don't get a key for the front door so you have to ring the doorbell whenever you come back, even very late at night. There was no water provided in the room.
I stayed there twice and they let me check in early both times and the room was lovely and comfortable. They also kept my luggage for me when I went away for the weekend. Breakfast was very good. It is less than 10 minutes walking to the Av Poeta teleférico station and you can take the white or Celeste lines. Excellent wifi. Two adorable Weiner dogs! Very kind staff.

FranceVery Nice hostal, I stayed only one night but I felt like home. The staff is very kind. It’s like a Little house with private room and bathroom. I loved the ambiance. I would have stayed longer if my schedule would allow me.

Great Host! We wanna thank Mr Juan and his wife for doing great job! The hostal is exceptionally clean (which is hard to find in Bolivia). It’s a cozy place where you can even use a kitchen. Quiet place. Mr Juan also gives you all important information about interesting places in Bolivia. He can also arrange special tours and expeditions for you. Location seems to be not central, but it’s super comfortable because you are 5 minutes from cable car 🚠 which is the best way of getting around in La Paz! Breakfast is really nice and every morning fresh!

United StatesThis place is amazing - beautifully decorated with full, delicious and balanced breakfast buffet, detail-oriented ameneties - better than a five-star hotel! What I loved the best were the people - Juan and Rosa really know how to take care of their guests. You will feel pampered and safe in this gorgeous hostal (which is more like a boutique hotel.)

Amazing staff, amazing breakfast, super clean rooms and common areas. The staff were very accommodating for our early check in, early check out and extending our stay at short notice. Location is a touch out of the way but only a 5 to 10 minute safe walk from everything including a cable car station.

United KingdomI really enjoyed my stay at Hostal Bivouac. The hostal is spotlessly clean, perfectly located and run by an amazing family. Also there is a great breakfast! I was allowed to check in early after a night bus and Juan and his family were so kind. A speedy and reasonable laundry service is also offered. I would definitely recommend and return.

AustraliaThe location is only good for proximity to sopocachi. However, the administrator is more than happy to call a cab for you with a pre negotiated price.
Firstly, the photos actually aren't as good as in person of the property. Also, the administrator is kind, and thoughtful; He Will assist you with anything you need, even went out of his way to purchase quinoa flour to make gluten free pancakes for my partner who is a coeliac. Highly recommend.

IrelandJuan, the owner, was really helpful and kind. In particular when I was bitten by a dog in el alto, I texted him and he immediately told me the best place to go to get the necessary shots. He also agreed to speak to the nurse over the phone for me as I don’t have any Spanish. He couldn’t have been more helpful. Also the hostel itself is lovely and very clean. Hot showers were perfect.
