The breakfast, dinner, and the staff were really nice.

The rooms are overpriced for just a simple fridge and TV. The rooms lack a wow factor. I have paid less for great rooms.

I liked that the staff was very attentive and helpful. The pool was very nice and clean . Room was very clean.

I didn’t like that i had internet problems and tv problems that i had to wait for a bit to be resolved, as i was traveling with my two kids and after a long day of travel they just wanted to relax. Elevator was not working. I didn’t like that the sofa was discolored and peeling; there was peelings everywhere after we set up the sofa bed.

the reception part of the hotel is under renovation (not mentioned when booking) makes it loose a big part of the charm of this gorgeous colonial building. Our room was dark and below the expectations we had for the price paid. The staff was nice though slow (apart from management) Location is unique, we highly recommend the diving club and its little beach (the only one close to the hotel), the boutique is very interesting and the rosé is just perfect, as well as the friendly staff !!!

    our room slow restaurant service

Location was great. Property has a lot of character and is under renovation to make even nicer. Pool is very nice. Breakfast options were broad, served quickly and delicious. Staff is very friendly and attentive.

Lighting didn’t work. Overhead bulbs worked but some lamps did not.

Room had a double balcony right over the ocean. Fell asleep to the sound of the waves. We had the large two room suite, so very comfortable.

Missing the remote for the Fire stick. Bathtub out of service.

Breakfast and staff knowledge and feedback. They went above and beyond.

Animals, nature I guess can't run from that.

One of the few buildings left in lower town, The old Gin House offers great accommodation right below Fort Oranje and the settlement on the cliff. Right next to tje hotel also on the lower town is a FANTASTIC restaurant (The Barrel House) and a diveshop/bar/souvenir place (Squbaqua). Included a la carte breakfast has excellent. I recommend "the Gin House breakfast" from the menu.

Couldn't adjust the temperature of the water in my room. Mattresses on the bed were a bit worn and had me roll down to one side each night. Price is rather steep compared to what you get, but so is every option on Statia.

Good breakfast with a lot of egg-possibilities. They washed our laundry for a small fee. One of the servants arranged a scooter for us. The location is perfect, snorkelspot directly on the other site of the (quiet road).

Very laid back experience. Not much to do on the island but that's what we wanted. Very helpful staff who made the place.

Roadworks. Face lifting of Hotel whilst guests were there although wasn't that intrusive.

Location is good beside the sea and not too far from the ferry terminal, while still being far enough away not to see it. The cats that hang around are cute, particularly one which had a tail like a squirrel and which we called Ginger. The room was clean and the staff generally were great. The nearby associated restaurant was great both for breakfast and dinner (note the rating score is for the accommodation and not the restaurant)

It felt like the hotel is overpriced given the lack of alternatives. The pool was not cleaned at all and essentially unusable. There was a general sense of poor maintenance with peeling floor paint, mould on the ceiling in the room, a missing shower shelf and a bathroom window that looked as though it hadn’t been maintained in years. There was also a lot of exposed pipe work and wires that you wouldn’t expect to see in a more expensive property. The tv was also very basic with only regular tv channels - again for the price of the room access to streaming services is expected

The location was perfect as we could walk from the port having arrived on the 20:15 ferry and didn't have a car. The hotel occupies a stunning spot overlooking the sea with sun loungers on a sandy area, comfortable couches to enjoy sundown and a good restaurant. The staff were very pleasant and helpful.

The property is under new ownership and they seem to working hard to improve the condition of the hotel which is in desperate need of renovations: For example, the pool was dirty - and when there aren't any beaches, you do want a pool - and the ceiling of the bedroom was moldy. I'd give it some time and

Great breakfast and our room had the best view overlooking the Caribbean Sea.

Knowing ahead of the time the restaurant was closed the only 2 nights we were there on Tuesdays & Wednesdays.
