“I came to Fazenda do Francês as a stopover on my way to another place and so I only stayed for one night. Now I wish I had stayed longer. The owner Rodrigo is a fantastic host and there was nothing he didn't mind doing for me. The food was also incredible. But the big draw for me was the amazing bird-life in the grounds of the fazenda. I feel like I found a real gem”
“Beautiful location and only 10 minutes drive from REGUA. Meals were excellent and Rodrigo was very flexible with timing which solved the usual birders problem of whether to have breakfast hideously early or interrupt the morning. We asked for breakfast at 10am which gave us plenty of time beforehand & coffee was always waiting for us at 5am. If you wanted breakfast even later (or hideously early) that would be fine too.
As well as being only a short drive from the wonderful REGUA, the property overlooks the valley famous for its Giant Snipe (we could hear them during dinner!) and also good for some good open country/wetland species you won't see at REGUA.
Rodrigo was an excellent host and offered his assistance should we need it during our stay as well as the rest of our time in Brazil. The setting was very peaceful and the beds comfortable so we slept well. Good showers & cold drinks always available.”
