How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewAdriana makes an effort to always provide free cakes and coffee and be friendly, the hostel is located on one of the main streets of Itacaré, so very close to many cafes and restaurants and shops, the price is very good. Adriana does all the work herself, which is very honorable, and she does that for the guests safety.
The hostel was not very clean, there were cockroaches in the kitchen (admittedly this is common in Brazil). There are only 2 showers with warm water (plus one with cold water) for an average of 15 people, which means you may have to queue to have a shower in the evening. Adriana does all the work herself, but I think that it is in fact a lot of work for her alone, and though she does her best, a volunteer could help improve the place. The common areas (and in particular the garden) could be improved, there are 4 hammocks there, which is nice, but there are hardly any plants, or decorations (I'm sure she could get volunteers to do beautiful murals there), so its a bit grey and dull. I also felt -- but this is very much a personal and subjective opinion -- that she was constantly looking over my back, (and that of everyone else there), which gave me a slightly uneasy feeling, even though she was always polite and friendly. Probably she is just worried that people be comfortable in the hostel, and I interpreted it the wrong way.

Verified reviewI originally booked just one night because Adriana’s place had such high ratings with so many reviews — and I quickly understood why. I arrived a bit late in the afternoon, and she warmly welcomed me with a table full of homemade sweets. After that, she encouraged me to head to the beach to watch the sunset, and I ended up seeing the most beautiful sunset of my life. Adriana is incredibly friendly and always ready to help. She gave me very useful information about the waterfalls and the famous Four Beaches hike, including how to get there by public transport. Every morning she prepares free breakfast and coffee for everyone, which feels so thoughtful. The kitchen is large, very well equipped, and kept perfectly organized — a great place if you like cooking. The location is also perfect: right on the main street, close to everything you need. I was so happy here that I extended my stay for five more nights. Thank you, Adriana, for making my time in Itacaré truly unforgettable!
Everything was already beyond my expectations.

Verified reviewThere are many good things to say about Adriana Hostel. Foremost, Adriana herself works very hard to keep the place clean, the sleeping area, the bathrooms, the kitchen. At one point, hand washing soap ran out, and this was replaced with a new full bottle. Then, over and above normally hostel practices, she provides breakfast food for her guests gratuitously, and there is always enough for all guests. On occasions, she would make a mixture of vegetables, flour, etc and baked this for everyone. Location: can't beat this, right in the main area (shopping, restaurants, minimarket, but not noisy after hours). Within easy walking distance to several beaches and a great trail across the Atlantic forest to a stupendous beach where I spotted sea turtles dipping amongst the waves. General atmosphere: it seemed incredible, but the guests contributed to a really good vibe. Friendly, harmonious, relaxing.
Really nothing negative to say. Perhaps a small point about laundry, it's impractical to do laundry at the hostel due to lack of space (understandably), and the great news is the launderette, (new super clean) is right next door at a very reasonable price.

Verified reviewStaying at adriana's was def a pleasure from beginning to end. I met so many lovely ppl from all over the world, and the energy of this place is just incredible. Adriana is one of the most genrous and welcoming people I’ve ever met, like other reviewers wrote. she makes you feel riight at home from the very first moment. The hostel is super clean, cozzy, and the location couldn’t be better. Everything you need is just a short walk away, whether it’s the beach, restaurants, or local shops. It’s the perfect base to explore Itacaré. Honestly, it’s no surprise that everyone here ends up extending their stay — it’s just that good! Without a doubt, Adriana's Hostel is the best place to stay in Itacaré. I can't wait to come back!

Verified reviewFor me this was one of the most heartwarming experiences on a hostel that I had. After I did the booking on the app I immediately received a message from the ow we Adriana asking if I needed something for my arrival and when would I arrive. I asked her a few questions and she quickly replied with a solution. The hostel itself it’s a humble place but with everything you need to cook on a kitchen, she even makes you food for free and coffee, as a courtesy of the house and you can serve coffee your self as much as you want. The hostel is located on the main street where everything is happening and you have everything close, laundry place, supermarkets, restaurants everything. I believe that Adriana Hostel is the best one in Itacaré for the experience that she offers to you. She is a kind soul and loves what she does, a storyteller and a friend that I will leave in Itacaré. Thanks for everything Adriana, you are an inspiration 😊
