Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyHostel Cosmopolitan is the hostel perfect for Solo Travellers like me. It's very social. The employees, volunteers and also the owner are super nice and welcoming and helped me a lot. There were also events for example once we did a barbecue and another day we went to a Karaoke Bar together. I really felt at home and didn't even want to leave (I enlarged my stay everyday). My favourite spot was the Pool where I went every evening but the hammock is also great to relax. The location is perfect! The supermarket and the beach are only 5-10 mins from the hostel and the center is easily accessible by Uber (20 mins) or bus (30 mins)

AustraliaI wish I could rate this hostel higher based on my experience with the staff/volunteers/other guests, but unfortunately, the room was not great. The window was broken and couldn't close properly which is problematic when there are many mosquitoes just outside. We had to use a bag and tape to cover the open part of the window. The room smelled bad most of the time, and the towels were very old and stained or worn down. The bathroom smelled and the toilet flush was extremely weak so it was difficult to flush most of the time. One night ants were falling from the roof in the bathroom so they were all over the bathroom floor.
Very friendly staff, volunteers and other guests so there was a good social vibe. I enjoyed the simple breakfast and coffee, and sometimes free cake. The bed was comfortable enough. Filtered water was good although the stream was weak so it took a while to fill up water bottles! Good location within walking distance of the beach and close to a main road with buses to the airport or the old town of Recife.

Chinawhen I check-in, the reception didn't give me the change because out of cash, and said would offer it when check-out. the day I check out, again they said no cash for me. Well, real 3 is a small one, not a big deal (maybe that's how they think even it is true ). But the way how they work make me a bit speechless.
good location, walk to the beach. possible to take a bus get to the airport. very clean bathroom.

SpainThe bed sheets could be improved and maybe the bed drawer were really noisy.
The staff was amazing and the people awesome. The facilities were okay and could be improved. The location is good as it's close to the beach but far away from any real tourist activity/old town.

BrazilThe only thing I think was bad is the WiFi, not good, unstable and many times didn't work.
The location is great, close to the city centre, beaches and markets. The room has air-conditioning this I didn't expect but was really good, the bed is really comfy and the kitchen well prepared as well as the fridge.

IsraelThe kitchen isn't in good condition, a small renovation would go a long way. Also, mosquito lamps would make it easier stay outside during the evenings.
The staff was really great. The best thing was the large communal space were u can eat and sit with others, and the backyard which felt so nice to be in.

CanadaThe floor did not feel very clean. The toilet was not working properly when we arrived and throughout our stay. We let the receptionist know, so I hope it will be fixed for the next guests.
My husband and I stayed in the private room in the hostel for 2 days. The hostel is located in a safe area. There are many nice restaurants in the area. The air-conditioning in the private room works well.

AustraliaStaff weren't welcoming on greetings. Our toilet in our room was broken when we arrived and when they fixed it, they left our bathroom floor very wet and the bathmat dripping wet with toilet water. The air-conditioner leaked, which we didn't realise the first time we used it, and all of our bags got drenched from the water on the floor.
Good communal spaces, coffee and biscuits in the morning, good sized room and comfy bed. Location is ok if you are happy to use public transport or uber to get to the main sights

BrazilPlenty of beds per area in 2 of the 3 shared rooms. Clogged toilets, clogged sinks and beds with drawers that made a huge noise when opened. They could remove some beds and charge higher daily rates, as they are in a very popular neighborhood in the city, and thus offer a little more comfort to guests. In the future, if it undergoes renovation, the place will look great, but for now, I wouldn't go back.
The owner and one of the employees I had contact with were very attentive. The place has a full kitchen with all the utensils for you to prepare your meals.

United KingdomIt was okay, more of a stopping over place than somewhere I'd stay if I was in Recife for a few days. Thete are some hostels that you stay at and you're not surprised when someone switches the light on at 5am and starts packing their gear. This was one of those places.
Breakfast isn't included but they do lay on coffee, crackers and jam in the morning. It's close to a large supermarket. Large under bed lockers.
