How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

I had high expectations for my stay at the Iberostar Waver, but unfortunately, my experience was far from what was promised. From the moment I arrived, I encountered a series of issues that reflected a serious lack of management and hospitality. The staff, rather than being welcoming and helpful, were consistently disrespectful and dismissive. Basic questions were met with vague or contradictory information, and any attempts to clarify were handled with impatience or indifference. It was clear that there was a lack of training and coordination among the team, which created a chaotic and frustrating atmosphere throughout the stay. What was most disappointing was the overall absence of genuine hospitality. I expected a level of care and professionalism that simply wasn’t there. Instead, I felt like I was being tolerated rather than truly hosted. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend Iberostar Waver and hope the management takes serious steps to improve the guest experience.

Verified reviewVery nice hotel. Most stuff were very friendly and helpful. Great food in main restaurant. Inflated playground in the swimming pool. Very warm water in swimming pool. Animals living in hotel area. Good quality drinks and cocktails. Water in glass bottles for refilling.
We were feeling discriminated in main restaurant (two weiters were helping everyone around us but we were ignored, felt invisible). We escalated it daily, 3 times in total, after 3rd one situation got improved. Also in bars there were few people which I would call not friendly for us. The same we would say about cleaning personel. Water in tap is not crystal, but bit yellow. Small ants in the room. Our impression is that is not place for people from Europe / non speaking Portuguese or Spanish.

Verified reviewThe hotel is great! Pools are amazing, rooms are quiet comfortable, people are friendly and there is a lot of activities going on! There’s even a kids play room. Everything is always very very clean and in order. Very spacious and lots of nature. Food is good in main restaurant and there’s always drinks and water everywhere. Overall it was quiet and ok stay
We had quiet a few “little” problems: 1. Booked a transfer from Salvador airport to the hotel and we were never picked up, and we had to get to the hotel in a taxi with our baby in a baby comfort that was not ok. I am waiting to get reembolses for that. 2. The crib they put in the room was broken and we had to wait more than 4 hours to get a new one and we managed by 18:30 (nearly our babies bed time) because we took the broken crib to the reception 3. Main restaurant is extremely noisy, so much so that our baby could stay only y about 15 min in there before he would start to get fuzzy or crying. Even for us the noise was extremely upsetting. So most of our meals were rushed in a 15 min timeline. 4, other restaurants at night the food was not good at all, only the one where the theme is Bahia of course. The rest totally not worth it. 5.since the main restaurant is buffet after the first hour of service all the food and service looked very messy. The buffet doesn’t look fresh after 1 or 1.5 hours. So we always rushed to the restaurant to eat within the first hour, and that was stressful specially in the morning. 6. I think it was due to the time of year (August) but the beach was not very easy acess. Ocean with very big waves, very small beach due to the high tide and all the chairs and umbrellas were squeezed together.

The beach itself is not suited for snorkeling. Regarding smoking, we were exposed to it in too many places. By the theater, the pool areas, and the beach. Iberostar should make the entire area smoke free.
