Let me start with the outcome: I arrived planning to stay just one day, I ended up staying a full month. There’s no other way I can put it: among all the hostels I’ve visited, Lagarto is truly unique. From the moment I arrived, I was warmly welcomed by the amazing group of volunteers who immediately made me feel at home. I also felt that the strong sense of community spreads to all the guests, creating a super nice atmosphere. In general if you enjoy socializing, this is the right place. There are plenty of shared spaces and daily activities (great free yoga classes; incredible evening jam sessions) that get people together. The food is delicious and also healthy, and yes there’s even a cozy tree house. Can’t wait to come back

TUDO! Everything is set in place to meet people and share good time: the commons spaces, the activities (especially the karaoke), the food … everything is amazing. It was a bit of a walk into town (about 10 minutes) and it felt a bit cliquey. Clear divide between those that spoke Spanish and Portuguese and those that didn’t.

Hostel has amazing activities every night to get to know other travelers, free yoga once a day, delicious family dinners every night for a reasonable price.

Be prepared for the fact that the facilities aren't 5 star, it is all very basic, but worth it for the atmosphere and enjoyment just being there!

Amazing food, amazing activities (yoga + daily evening activities), great vibes and community feel You'll make friends instantly! Best place I've stayed in south America- I stayed like 5 times longer than planed!

Amazing Hostel! Magical atmosphere - probably the best of all hostels in the world (and I've been in many), I almost couldn't leave the place and stayed there 18 nights (one time i even tried to leave but i felt depressed so i came back), and really amazing staff! ❤️🔥

Everybody was so friendly, the staff could not have been more helpful. The food was really good :) and I really enjoyed the daily activities that I took part in. It’s worth noting that there are a lot of mosquitos, but anyone looking for a party hostel will love it.

The fan in my room didn't really hit my bed which is why it was sometimes very hot at night

I stayed in lagarto for 4 nights and I had a great time. The vibe and people are really nice and there’s a lot of activities every day. The rooms are simple but clean and comfortable. The whole area of the hostel is cute and there’s lots of hammocks all over the place, which I loved. Overall an awesome hostel. Looking forward to come back soon!

I loved staying at Lagarto…the hostel has a really welcoming and relaxing atmosphere. It’s a very social place and the volunteers are amazing as well. The breakfast is good and there is a vegetarian dinner every night for a good price. I definitely recommend staying there. It will definitely change the experience of pipa!

The private rooms are fine but there's one thing that I really feel like's missing and that's a mosquito net. Rooms are not closed off enough to keep the mosquitoes out and there are a lot of them. So in a place like this mosquito nets wouldn't have been a luxury.

Nice place, very social. Staff is super nice and really tries to make your stay comfortable. Perfect common area to meet others and they create many opportunities to meet people. For example breakfast and dinner at 1 long table.

The best hostel I’ve stayed in all of South America!!! I originally planned to stay just a few days, but ended up staying for four weeks. Every morning, there’s a great breakfast and you have the opportunity to join free yoga. Every evening, the volunteers organize a fantastic program that changes every week. There are so many of backpackers from all over the world, and it’s easy to connect with them. The hostel is beautifully and spaciously set up. There’s a pool and many of places to relax. The only thing you should know is that there are a lot of mosquitoes so you need to use mosquito repellent every few hours. I highly recommend this hostel, and it’s the main reason I’ll be coming back to Pipa.

I'm more kind of explorer than party guy, introverts like me may not always feel comfortable with all these events and acquaintances, but what can you expect from hostel, this is kind of my own problem lel. Curious if I can change this by coming here for more than for 2 days next time, um? I think I'll try :)

If you're looking for bunch of new connections and non-stop parties this is your place. Don't be idiots like me and come here for more than 2 days. I bet you'll met most amazing people in your life here. I want to thank all the beautiful staff and the owner for the place you guys have created and are currently maintaining.
