How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewLocation was good, and the staff were nice
That wasn't a locker/key in the room, the window were missing some parts, so you couldn't close it totally and the shower were cold water, it was raining the nights I was there, and was a leak in the room, so make it even harder

Verified reviewThe hostel is very new. Nice garden area with lots of green. Maybe they will improve.
As a solo traveler it was not very social. The noise from the main street was very loud. Every day they had some hours without water and they didn't provide buckets with water to flush. So to share a bathroom with 12 people without water was terrible. Also they don't provide soap in the shared bathroom or lockers to secure your luggage. The ones in the shared room don't work.

Verified reviewJust location and the reception area.
We stayed the first two nights in the shared room at the first level. Then we asked to move to a private room and it was the horrible thing that happened. I don't like to write bad reviews, but I've tried to give a chance to the owner raising the issue and asking to simply move me back to the previous shared room, but I haven't received any help. Here we go, I'm sad to write this and I don't want anyone else to experience the same 1) The private room shares a bathroom with 3 other rooms. So you will share one single toilet with 12 PEOPLE 2) You can't SLEEP a) There are chickens in the backyard singing all night long b) You can hear all the noise from the other rooms because the roof is open c) then when you can sleep the SUN HITS your bed as you can see in the picture. They don't have curtains, the glass isn't enough to provide shade 3) NO WATER - during the night they haven't water in the upper rooms. At ground level water was available. I've asked if they had water so I could take a shower, they said that they were fixing it. Outcome, there wasn't no water until the morning and I had to take shower with the water bottle. 4) There is only one energy outlet per room 5) There is no wifi in the room 6) You need to take long stairs to go up 7) Once anyone turn the shower on the lights doesn't work properly. 8) There are no mirrors in the toilets 9) It's very expensive for what you pay for what you get. Better stay in the shared room or sleep in the reception. 10) They didn't do anything to repair the issue, I've raised the complaint at the reception and the owner didn't take any action. Left by my own given that their staff are all volunteers and not responsible for anything. The owner weren't present physically in the property
Hi Charles, Thank you for your review, this is very important to us! But some things are not right, as you said in your statement. Firstly because I was present at the hostel at several times, we communicated via WhatsApp a few times to see what we could do in relation to your note, I would even like to leave a print of our conversation here, as at no point did you ask me to come back to the shared room, but to a private room in which it was not possible because they were occupied, for us it would not be a problem to relocate to a shared room even because we had space in it. I asked you what you wanted to do and to this day I'm waiting for your answer. Before your room change, you visited the new space, checked what the room and bathroom were like and even so you chose to move, you were not deceived and you saw with your own eyes what it was like. Regarding pointing out the animals in the yard, I understand that it is inconvenient, but we are already in contact with our neighbor so he can remove them from there. Regarding the brightness of the room, we have already purchased black-out curtains for a better night's sleep without glare. Regarding the lack of water and osillating energy, this is a problem external to us that occurs due to the high demand of tourists during the high season in our city. Regarding the weak Internet signal in the room, we are already providing another signal router for everyone's convenience. There are mirrors in all the rooms, in the future we can put them in some bathrooms that are missing, but not all of them.
