Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaUnfortunately the hostel could be so much better with just a bit of regular upkeep. In the 10 bed dorm the bathroom door is a folding door that scrapes noisily along the floor whenever it's opened or closed, and because it doesn't close fully, the hostel has installed a loop of string to hold it shut. The dormitory door didn't close fully, so there were mosquitoes in the room at night. Many of the clips on the lockers are broken, so only a few of them are actually lockable. The cushions on the communal lounge were old and hadn't been cleaned in ages. I'd still say this hostel is comfortable enough, and it's great value - I'd stay there again. However, if little things like this were fixed, it could truly be a standout hostel in Brazil. All the ingredients are there - they just need to be taken care of.
This hostel has some wonderful staff (shout out to Carol, Taynan and Fernanda) and I met some really cool fellow travellers while I was there. The breakfast was great, and the overall vibe was awesome - for all of this, the hostel is excellent value for money.

NetherlandsThe shared room was very small en smelled really bad, because there must be something wrong with the airco (also doesn’t really cool) and there are no windows. The bathroom door doesn’t close properly and if you open or close it the whole room wakes up. Also there is no space for backpacks, so the tiny amount of floorspace is covered with backpacks. No place to hang your wet beach clothes.
The location is nice, and the personal is friendly , breakfast was included

FrancePlease be mindful that the cleanliness of the toilet is compromised when accommodating many guests in a shared room with 10 beds. There were only two toilets available, with one located inside the room with the shared beds. Additionally, there was no iron available for clothes to rent or use, and no washing/drying service and area within the hostel, but there was a private one nearby. Furthermore, there was a constant shortage of toilet paper. The breakfast at the hostel was decent, considering the price. However, it was odd that they offered "tapioca with eggs" but we could not have just eggs. Also, having cold "cuscus" is not ideal. Perhaps offering to prepare it right away would be the best option, just like they do for the tapiocas.
The staff were very friendly. There was a lovely space to relax and chat with other travelers. I did not use the kitchen, but it seemed clean and organized.

IsraelOne of the workers at the front desk that goes by the name of Newtom was extremely rude. He yelled at us multiple times in Portuguese using unnecessary volume and rage, and even after explaining that we don’t understand Portuguese he claimed that we’re lying that we don’t understand him to “get out of trouble”. Instead of explaining things calmly he went straight to rage from the very start of every conversation and was very unpleasant to talk to/ask for services. The rest of the staff were nice enough, but throughout the day do not stay at reception most of the time, and sometimes it can be difficult to find the staff member when you need something from them.
Chill environment, beds were good, showers were good (no hot water though)

CanadaI was looking forward to staying in an affordable private room after spending the last 2.5 weeks in shared dorms. Honestly, I’m not sure if it was worth it; I should have just stayed in the shared dorm at Casa Gladius I am aware that the room was cheap, but some things should not be worse because of a cheap price. For example, the room lacked basic cleanliness. The sheets were stained and had a giant rip in them. There was also no hand soap in the bathroom. Some other things that weren’t great: -There was no hot water in the shower -The people working there didn’t really know anything about the tours that were displayed at the reception. -The door has a huge gap in it, so my room was full of bugs- giant ants, small ants, cockroaches, etc. I literally had over 20 giant ants crawling on the wall at one point.
The air conditioning was nice and worked most of the time and there was drinking water. The shared kitchen is a nice space as well.

ItalyMe and my friend paid for the King double (“best” room in the hostel). Anyway, from the very 1st night we found the AC broken (then fixed) and then, most importantly, enormous cockroaches coming from the bathroom facilities, that show an important lack of cleanliness. When we reported to the receptionist that we were keeping finding them (including a frog…), despite a first cleaning intervention, and that we were expecting a new cleaning / at least refund (even partial) for the inconvenience, we were told that a new cleaning would have been considered “extra” and be charged + that we should have gone to a “resort” instead. It’s quite unacceptable that a hostel staff is not able to understand such a big issue with two people paying for a “King room” but having to live with huge cockroaches. I’d like to add that the insect net around the bed had holes and so was totally useless.
Location and breakfast.

IsraelThe hostel have very good vibes in it. Enjoyed every second. The crew there was so special and helped me with so many things. If you are a kitesurfer it gets even better because the owner have a kite school and then you can catch a ride with him to the spots. Also serving acai when coming with him. The best place.

CanadaAbsolutely nothing l. This is a scam. Worst experience in 1.5 year in south america. Its a complete siht hole
This place is a SCAM ! Don't book, they are thieves!. Rooms don't look anything like the photos, my room was totally moldy, stained, the matress was humide like it was in a cave, there was black mold on walls, the toilet smelled like strong piss odor, the AC wasn't working but THE WORST PART WAS THE VERY HEAVY SMELL OF MOLD, I didnt even want to stay one night in this place, the paint was all the be redone, the light switch full of black fingerprints. I have been in so many places, I don't have high expectations, I can be content with minimal comfort but this was really bad. They offered to change me to another room the day after. The receptionist showed me another room without AC but it was taken and smelled like a barn. Then I meet other people who were there and had the same issue. The guys girlfriend was allergique and they got changed to a better room but was still bad. Some people I meet were living there as well and one of them had allergique reaction in another room. They have a no refund policy but the product they offer is complete garbage and has nothing to do with the reality. I had booked a week and they kept every penny. They are just bad dishonest people. Please don't encourage these thives. For the same exact price I had a room at VIGLAMO cliser to the beach with a pool and everything was super clean and staff were amazing. Contact them directly they have much better price than what is on booking.

IsraelExtremely Disrespectful and Unprofessional Experience at LaTaperajeri hostel I have never left an accommodation feeling as disrespected and hurt as I did after my experience with the owner of this hostel, Mauricio. I usually only write positive reviews and forget about the bad ones, but this time, it was beyond unacceptable. I arrived at the hostel at 7:30 AM after a very tough 24-hour journey, looking for a place to rest. After checking a few other places, I finally arrived at this hostel and asked the receptionist if I could check in immediately. He assured me that I could. I then proceeded to book my stay through Booking.com and requested my room. To my surprise, I ended up standing at the reception for an hour and a half, waiting for my room, because the receptionist had no idea what to do. The computer system was barely functioning, and the overall logistics of the place were completely disorganized. After a long wait and after I had already paid and completed my booking, it was already 9:30 AM. At that point, another employee arrived and told me that early check-in was not usually possible and that it was against the hostel’s policy. However, after realizing that I was promised immediate entry by the receptionist, she assured me that she would take care of it and called the owner, Mauricio. From the moment Mauricio arrived, the entire atmosphere turned hostile and disrespectful. Before we even spoke, he realized I was Israeli and started mocking me in Hebrew. At first, I thought he was just joking. Then, he told me very clearly that I was not allowed to enter the hostel before 2:00 PM and that I should stay away until then. I explained to him that I only booked this hostel because the receptionist confirmed I could check in early and that I was utterly exhausted after traveling for an entire day. I told him that if there was no option to check in, I would like a refund so I could find another place to sleep.

PolandWhen I got to the room, I immediately noticed that my sheets were full of strangers' hair and dirt as if they had never been changed. On top of that, the floor and shower were also full of hair. There were bugs everywhere. The highlight was when I had a frog in the room and when I asked to move I was told that "frogs are a natural thing" and they refused to move me to a different room or give me a refund for the night I didn't sleep in the hostel.

ItalyThe accommodation is a disgrace and a complete misrepresentation of what was advertised. - Filthy Conditions: Mold on the walls, insects in the bed—absolutely unhygienic and a health hazard. - Broken Amenities: Air conditioning was non-functional, even though it was advertised as operational. - False Advertising: None of the rooms matched the photos or description on the platform. I needed a desk for work, but not a single room had one as claimed. - Security Risks: The door lock was practically useless, easily opened with minimal force. - Missing Services: Breakfast was included in my booking, yet the property does not offer it at all. This place is a blatant scam. Do not book here unless you’re prepared for a nightmare.
Literally nothing.
