I liked that the hostel was organized and clean, the breakfast was really complete and tasty. The fact that the bathroom is cleaned everyday, points for that. The only thing I didn’t like was the fact that they ask for money for the keys of the room but they give it back.

Honestly this hostel is a hidden gem. I'm from England travelling around the entirety of Latin America and it's been one of my favourite hostels in the 7 months so far. Pros - Quiet location but only 5 minutes walk to the main square - Super cheap compared to other hostels - Great buffet breakfast with eggs, fruit, sausages, cake - Chilled pool - Great AC - Attentive staff who clean rooms daily

There was a lot of rain and in the dorm the roof leaked one night all over the floor and my friends things.

There were 4 of us, 2 in a private and 1 in a dorm. The private was nice but the door to bathroom was slightly broken and room was a tad small but a nice balcony with a table and chairs. The breakfast was also very good with a big selection of savoury, fruits and cakes which changed every day.

I didn’t like having to make my bed at arrival. Mattress was a bit thin. A/C was set at 21oC; too cold for me. Beds in this room have no curtains but they do have them in certain rooms. My bed was missing the reading light. It was noisy outside, specially from small children crying, as I enjoy sleeping in til late morning. Breakfast could have more variety of fruits and juices; and do away with salty pies (they aren’t good). Better (sweet) cakes would be nice.

I stayed in a mixed room for 1 night. I liked cleanliness, breakfast included in room rate, location close to town center, restaurants, shops, market, laundromat and entertainment. Friendly and helpful staff. Beds had own reading light, outlet and small nook for personal items. Bathroom en suite. You can borrow blankets, but you need to ask.

The bed was a bit old and not the most comfortable, and the toilet was a bit smelly.

The breakfast was amazing and the staff was kind and helpful. The room was comfortable overall, quite spacious , and the hostel is well located. I quite enjoyed my staying giving I kept extending 😅

Not so many places to dry cloths unfortunately. Missed more social activities from the hostel, they have great facilities for it.

The room had plenty og space and a nice little fridge. I liked the pool area nice place to chill and talk to others. The breakfast was good, some of the same things each day but also some switch ups. Super nice and helpful staff.

Wifi could be improved but it is an island to be fair. Everything else was good

Great hostel in a good location around 5 minute walk to the main square. Check in was efficient and the staff friendly. The breakfast was a bonus and included the usual eggs, breads, cheese, cold meats etc. i was happy with the breakfast. The private room has air con and is comfortable and good value for money. When i was there it wasn’t lively but this didn’t affect my stay. I would stay there again :)

Breakfast: The breakfast is not tasty most of the days. The salty cakes are shit and take too much of a percentage of the variety. Coffee isn't refilled until asked. Juices are tasteless. All of a sudden I got yelled at (!!!) by a manager at breakfast b/c I wore underpants to breakfast without any effort to make a nice request. After 2 minutes came another manager to continue yelling at me and even touched me aggressively while pulling on my underwear from underneath my pants. Cleanliness: Our room was filthy and restroom as well. They were not cleaned every day. (even upon request) Toilet papers in the pool's restroom were missing. Electricity maintenance is bad and flat out dangerous. While heading out, I found out also that they hate guests from my nationality.

I do not recommend. Location: This hostel accommodation is located in a good place but some rooms (dorms) are located right on the street which makes them noisy. The beds are in bad shape and unstable. . Owner is very nice. Rest of the employees and managers have a very unpleasant attitude to guests, from a few experiences.

Friendly, English speaking host, who shared with us on our arrival, all the information about the island. Lovely bar and small swimming pool on the roof with friendly staff Accommodated us with food the night before we departed because we were leaving before breakfast

Papagaio is obviously one of the best place to stay in the island. It is very comfortable and hosts are very very much friendly and helpful. Rooms and all common places are so clean and the service was great. Location is just in the heart of the island, 5 minutes to the port and 10 min walk to the beaches. Thank you Alvise & Carla & Pedroka for everything! I will visit your great place in some time for sure! Obrigado!
