How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Verified reviewNice private beach, friendly staff, good restaurant just on the premises, clean room. The facilities are nice with a pool, jacuzzi and sauna + on demand yoga lessons.
Our room had some noise from the bathroom which made it slightly difficult to sleep. Not a complaint, but if you’re traveling make sure to bring an adaptor as they don’t have one on the premises (although they were kind enough to offer to order one)

Verified reviewThe location is lovely on a small sandy beach in the forest with a bar terrace to watch the sunsets. A short kayak takes you to a variety of other beaches including the Lagoa Azul. The snorkelling is excellent with giant starfish, sea turtles and a good selection of other colourful fish. The food is excellent with a wide selection on the menu for dinner and a great spread for breakfast. The hotel is also directly on the hiking trails heading in both directions along the coast.
The rooms a little tired overall.

the wifi was not working during our stay and workmen were outside our chalet working o repair the wifi for hours. I understand it needed to be fixed but no one informed us. This place is not being managed properly.

Verified reviewA little paradise, with amazing views, and nicelye integrated in nature. The staff do everything to make your stay as comfortable as possible. A very good breakfast, fresh juices included, with seaview completed the setting.
Some small details can make it even better. The mini fridge in the room is subject to replacement, the pool towels are not always available. But really tiny details that are neglictible.

The shower was not working, only at the end of the third day. I had to ask for repair 5 times, but every time only cold water. Also not everything in the saunas or hot pool is working well. Hopefully, they will invest in provind a good infratsructure, if they will do, I will come back

Verified reviewThe staff was so accommodating and kind and the hotel really is right on the beach. When the sun shines, you can’t beat it. Breakfast was great as you could order any eggs you like fresh. Lots of kayaks and beach activities too.
The room we were given (a four person room with sea view) was not entirely fitting with this hotel as it was clearly old staff/owner accommodation. It was cluttered, had a musty smell and was poorly insulated which meant that often the sheets felt damp. It didn’t feel spotlessly clean either. I didn’t see any of the other hotel rooms so can’t comment on if that would be any different. For this reason, I felt our room assigned wasn’t great value for money.

Verified reviewThe location was good and close to nice beaches but you need a boat to do anything there. Property is surrounded by nature.
It’s not organised it maintain well. Everything functions only during the day and you cannot really enjoy anything after sunset just go to bed. The pool has no lights so you cannot enjoy it after sunset. The beach has no lights on it and looks deserted after 5pm. There are seat with nice view under the trees but again you sit in darkness as there are no lights on those trees so you cannot enjoy sunset or time after sunset with a glass of wine. I got a feeling no one really cares about improving this place. But the staff is really nice and helpful.

Verified reviewWe had a great stay, the staff are so nice and work incredibly hard, particularly Erica and Alejandro. The hotel rooms themselves are fairly rustic, but this is a remote spot on a chilled out island, not a luxe 5 star resort, so you need to come with the right expectations. The food is ok and well priced, although the portions are actually too big. The water in the bay is great for swimming and the free use of kayaks is really useful.

Verified reviewWe had a wonderful stay here for four nights and wished we could have stayed longer. The surroundings were stunning and peaceful, yet there were plenty of activities to enjoy, such as boat trips, kayaking, hiking, or simply relaxing on the beautiful beaches nearby. Restaurant was great!
The room and bathroom were clean but basic. But with that beautiful surroundings, you don't need more.

Verified reviewBeautiful spot on a private beach, very secluded and felt special. Good restaurant and bar area and the pool / hot tub were nice as well. Free kayaks you can use in the day are a nice bonus. Perfect to spend a few chilled days here.
A few of the dishes on the menu are very similar to each other and some communal areas of the hotel could be kept a little tidier / cleaner with the staff being a little more attentive (mostly the beach and pool). Also room 8 has a very noisy a/c unit (we could hear it at night from room 9). We were told on arrival there was no yoga instructor either as they'd left (we had bought yoga kit as the pictures show there is a yoga studio and instructor) which was a little disappointing.

Unfortunately, I feel compelled to leave this review, even though I usually never write negative reviews. On the last day of my stay, my iPhone 16 was stolen from the private beach (shortly after breakfast). I reported this to the hotel, but unfortunately, no action was taken, and I received no meaningful support. Sadly, this wasn’t the first incident during our stay. A few days earlier, my wife’s sunglasses went missing. I reported this to the reception, and only two days later did a staff member approach me to return them. He mentioned that he had found the sunglasses but, instead of handing them over to reception immediately, he waited until he heard someone was looking for them. Frankly, this is unacceptable — if something isn’t yours, it should be returned right away. When I addressed these issues with the hotel, I was met with more resistance than support, which was extremely disappointing. I’m deeply disappointed with this pousada and, based on our experience, I cannot recommend it to anyone. And to make matters worse — this all happened during our honeymoon! If there’s ever a definition of a bad experience, this was it.

Very tatty decor overall . Wood rotting on steps , loose balustrades ? Safety issue. When we arrived on the dock no one showed up for several minutes and reception not particularly friendly. Room smelt damp and shower leaked. Because of water shortage we were advised there would be intermittent issues with hot water but we only had hot water once in 4 days in our room. Room 1 lacked privacy. When we explained we had booked a superior suite we were told that does not mean superior!! As language was sometimes an issue only way we could communicate our concerns was via Booking.com messaging but the comments/ queries were dealt with someone in reservations who was not on site and they did not communicate with the on site staff. I had to show the messages to the so called reception staff on site. There was a total lack of concern about our dissatisfaction or ways to ameliorate the situation . Before we arrived I had requested for them to arrange a taxi transfer from Angros on our last day which they agreed to. On the morning of our departure I found it had not been done so they hurriedly booked it at the last minute , costing more than the original agreed fee. As we left I was not very happy that a 10% service charge had been added to the entire bill covering accommodation/ food and even the boat transfer fee . In its current state and the way it is operated , I would definitely not recommend this accommodation on Ilha Grande to anyone.

Regarding the taxi, we did not book it because we did not receive confirmation from you after we provided all the information, including prices. The price was different because, at the last minute, the taxi that accepted the ride charged us that price, which was not much, about 5 euros for the day. We appreciate each comment you make, as we will use it as a learning experience to improve our services.
