Probably it would be better to get the information about the island ( carring a backpack, snorkeling gear, flashlike) 1 month in advance, in order to be able to pack accordingly

Not a criticism but info: Bear in mind the Pousada is in the middle of the forest, good 10 min walk away uphill from the jetty on the beach. They will organise someone to help you with bags, make sure you have cash to help them. Wear comfy shoes as it's uphill in limited light.

Views from the balcony into the bay were magical. Staff was extremely helpful in organising excursions and booking transport to/from mainland. Breakfast was great every morning. The nature at Pousada Lagamar is stunning, would recommend paying extra for water view rooms, it make us feel like we are sleeping in a tree house. Plenty (aka 3) of food options on the beach, which was surprising considering it felt like it was a desert island just for us (in the most magical way).

The hot water in the shower was intermittent.

Very peaceful, green and quiet. Close to the beach if you want to get a boat somewhere. You can also just walk the trail to visit other beaches and spots nearby.

Pousada Lagamar had extremely friendly and hospitable staff. They organized tours, water taxis and provided great advice on how to spend our time on the island. The surrounding beach and nature was beautiful and we greatly appreciated the more remote nature of the place as it was further from the main town. It was the perfect place to both relax, explore and embrace the beautiful Brazilian landscape.

I honestly have nothing negative to say about this place. It, to me is the most amazing place to go visit and stay at.

The PEOPLE, staff there is amazing. Tjeu just want you to have a good time and relax. Extremely good people and very knowledgable about the island, what to do and always trying to help and assist any way possible.

Ezequiel, the manager, is such a nice and interesting guy. The whole staff were amazing! Breakfast in front of the ocean, C mon! If you are looking for peace and quiet this is the spot.

Like I said, it’s all about context and knowing what you’re turning up to. There’s no shop in Praia Vermelha but you can get drinks from the Pousada and we thought they were reasonably priced considering where you are. I recommend taking a few snacks as other than breakfast, no food is available at the Pousada so you have to go down to the beach. Like I said, we knew all this, so think it’s just important to be prepared and bring a few provisions.

It’s important to remember that Ilha Grande is a fairly remote island with no roads. So I think you have to put the accommodation into this context, and on that basis, we really loved Pousada Lagamar. Yes there is a little walk up to the Pousada but the perspective you get through the jungle rather than the just from the beach is really special. The rooms are basic but comfortable and there is house keeping every day. We loved sitting and looking out at the view and listening to the nature around us.

Ilha Grande is a bit pricey compared to the rest of Brazil, but it’s worth it.

Pousada Lagamar is situated at one of the more remote beaches of Ilha Grande. It’s a perfect spot if you seek a relaxing yet adventurous stay. If you’d like to hike and have beautiful beaches, you are in the right spot. The stuff of Pousada Lagamar is friendly and attentive.

A little hard to get there (whim we knew), but when you have to do a few trips to the restaurants/the beach every day, it gets a little tiring. Again, we knew it was a hard access. There’s no generator in the property and one of the nights, the power went down and so the fan stopped working and we couldn’t sleep from midnight - 5am. Again, I knew we were in an island but it was tough and so hot.

The property had great views and we appreciated being close to nature. The staff were nice and helped us segunda up day trips to the beaches/islands.

Literally a DREAM. My fiance and I came for a 5 day getaway and fell in love with praia vermhelha and were so happy with the pousada. The view, the location, yummy breakfast -paradise. Be prepared with bug spray but this is the place of dreams.

We really enjoyed our stay. Isabella and team made us feel very welcome. The breakfast on their beautiful terrace is amazing and watching the monkeys, coati and porcupine come by made it very special. It’s in a quiet area of the island which lots of hikes around. We really enjoyed it and would definitely come back.

Very small detail, being shower pressure and temperature of water, but your on a pretty remote island so this can’t really be helped… did NOT affect the experience at all.

Unique! Jungle tree house vibes, comfortable basic rooms. Amazing views. Simple but delicious breakfast. Amazing staff!! They were very helpful and kind, always smiling and sincere. Felt like I was able to disconnect from the world and just relax surrounded by nature. What an amazing experience!

Beautiful Pousada on the quiet side of the island, just a little walk from Praia Vermelha (don't bring too much luggage with you up the jungle path). Great if you love the quiet and safety and perfect place to enjoy the beauty of nature. Very lovely hostess, great breakfast and very clean and comfortable rooms. Sometimes boat trips are organised by the hostess or you could arrange something yourselves from the nearby restaurant and dive center dolce vita. That is also the only nearby restaurant for dinner, and they serve delicious food. You can go on several hikes, routes are well marked and well maintained (bring good shoes though), and visit nearby beaches by foot (1 to 1.5h hike, or longer if you wish to go further). Or arrange for a taxi boat to see other beaches on the island. We've started off our honeymoon trip here and it was absolutely beautiful. Would recommend it to everyone!
