Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

BrazilIt was the very first time I see a hotel charge to hold your luggage for few hours. This was a ridiculous decision to make money out of Madonna’s show weekend. I have been in hotels ranging from 1* to 6*, and this was the first time a hotel charges for this service which should obviously be a courtesy. And this was not only after checkout but also for those who arrived early and had to wait to check in. Of course they were also charging for early check-in and late check-out, even though many rooms were already ready when we arrived at 11:00. Ridiculously making money out of nothing and nowhere else in the world charges for holding a bag for 2 hours!

South AfricaThere was water leaking in the bathroom from the room above, the toilet had flushing problems, and there was no soap in sight. Despite notifying reception the morning, their promised assistance never materialised. Even after waiting patiently, the situation remained unresolved until my last night when they finally switched my room. The condition of the gym was disappointing. In contrast to the modern ambiance of the hotel, the gym appeared outdated and neglected, with old equipment and dirty windows detracting from the overall experience. An upgrade is certainly warranted to align with the standard
The location couldn't have been bette - it was conveniently close to the beach, allowing for easy access to seaside relaxation. The room itself was both clean and spacious, providing a comfortable environment throughout my stay. The breakfast had a wide array of options available, catering to various preferences and dietary requirements, which I found to be both plentiful and delicious. Additionally, the breakfast area and reception exuded an exquisite ambiance, contributing to a inviting atmosphere.

United KingdomWe had an enjoyable stay at Royal Rio Palace Hotel, with highlights being the breakfast and the lovely pool area. The room was basic but clean and the bathroom was very nice, with a jacuzzi bath. We stayed in two very similar hotels for 2 nights each, and this one had the superior pool area. The rooftop pool was a nice size for cooling off in (not big enough to swim lengths but hotel rooftop pools rarely are) and was well maintained, with a nice walkway over it. There were a few sun loungers (these were usually occupied by 9 am) and some tables and chairs (with parasols) by the pool. There was also a raised area with comfortable lounger-type seats with some shade, which were very nice to relax on. The bar served drinks and food (very expensive hotel-priced stuff). Pool towels were available free of charge. There was a gym area that had some basic equipment in, which I did not use. The breakfast was fantastic, buffet style, with a wide range of pastries, cakes, fruits, meats and cheeses, breads, scrambled eggs, sausage, plantain, and some other hot food. The juice wasn't great, perhaps watered down or something similar (it was the same at the other hotel we stayed at), but that was the only thing that slightly let it down. Overall I think the hotel offered a high level of luxury for the reasonable price it asked for. The location is also perfect, taking just a couple of minutes to walk to Copacabana beach straight down the road. We paid R$20 to store our bags at the hotel before check-in, which appears to be fairly standard.

Location is nice and central for Rio. Close walk to Metro and Copacabana beach. Breakfast had a nice choice and good quality. Staff were always quite helpful. Pool area is nice.

NetherlandsThe Free Taxi given from Booking is impossible to be use. The Taxi stays 45 minutes after the plane has landed. You never can take your suitcase before the 45 minutes. For me it took maybe 1.5 hour to 2 hours to receive my suitcase. The Free taxi was gone. If you have NO suitcase, you can use the free TAXI. INFO: A Uber cost 40 Real A Taxi can be 200 to 300 Real for Gringos like me ! :) You will learn fast the prices. Next time I know !
Breakfast was excellent. The cleaning people are soo sweet, I gave them something before I left. The location is very central. I enjoyed a lot the gym and the swiminpool. Cuba Libre cocktail is the best !

HungaryUnfortunately, during our stay there was a maintenance work above, which means that between 9-17 hours it was quite noisy, and bothering for us, especially as we were there with a 1 yo baby, so that we had to take some naps with the him. The hotel’s personnel offered us to change the hotel room, and I don’t think this it would be convenient..
The hotel has an amazing location, its just 2 blocks from Copacabana beach, there is a great variety of shops, supermarkets, restaurants, etc, in front of the hotel there is a great Domino’s! The hotel’s personnels are doing a great job to give an excellent service for their visitors. I would also recommend the security, the neighborhood is perfect, too! The buffet breakfast is super tasty, there is a huge variety also.

New ZealandLoud music in the terrace. Too loud. Dirty cigarette ashtrays all around. Terrace needs more employees cleaning as the restaurant has. (only one each time, to serve at the bar, make that money calculations, and… clean?)
I like to swimming pool and the terrace views. I love the breakfast.

United KingdomBreakfast could be a bit more broad. Stayed for 5 mornings and it was the same, sausage, eggs, bacon, breads, ham, cheese and fruits. Hotel reception staff and bar tender was not helpful in the slightest when my boyfriend lost his headphones and he asked if they could look in lost property. Didn’t seem bothered or seem to care
The pool, the gym, the free water at the gym.

United States of AmericaI got in early to Rio very early and I was surprised that they charged to store the luggage for the day. It felt more like a tourist warehouse milling people through. The water in the fridge was expensive and would have been nice to have a bottle of water in the heat!
There were two comfortable beds there with a great pillow. It was fairly close to the beach and there were some nice restaurants and coffee shops close by. The breakfast was plentiful and the staff nice.
