How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewStaff were amazing and super friendly. Everything was handled professionally and they went the extra mile for us. Rooms were clean and perfect with an extra touch every night providing us with a made warm bed and warm water bottles in bed. Food was really excellent and wonderful standard. Would love to bring my kids some day.
Game viewing and experiences was far away and unfortunately the river has been dry for a few years which should not be falsely advertised.

Verified reviewThe sleeping tent was comfortable.
The reception area was unswept and unkempt. There were bird droppings on tables and chairs. The meals were very average except breakfast. For our lunch we were told that both of us had to order the same thing! Toilets to Restuarant area were awful with no paper. Disappointed and the lodge needs managing.

For the price a tent over looking a dry river in a stinking hot tent with a tiny fan in African heat 🥵 this is not luxury

Verified reviewI have bittersweet feelings and it's really hard for me to rate this stay. During the overnight stay, part of our group was robbed (someone cut the tent right in the place where phones were charging, there was cash, passports, etc.). I understand that such situations happen, but unfortunately after returning to Poland it turned out that we couldn't count on any compensation from either the insurer or the owner - we got information that the thieves had been caught and that was it. That's why I don't really know how to evaluate it - on the one hand it was ok, but on the other this unpleasant situation cast a shadow over the entire stay. I'm sorry that the owner didn't show any willingness to cooperate/some compensation or even a discount on future stays - it would have been a nice gesture, but it was a lack of understanding on his part. Unfortunately, we won't be returning to this place, it's a pity.

Verified reviewThe staff were great and the place adequate.
The accommodation was lovely, but completely misrepresented on the website. There are images of animals, water, game drives and such the like, making the lodge appear as if it is on a river (which it is but it was dry and largely domesticated - goats, cattle etc). On arrival we were informed that we would have to take game drives at $300 and that it was a 2.5 hour to Moremi. For heavens sake please get a new piece of glass for your table! You can order from PG glass in Maun.

Verified reviewStaff were friendly, helpful and went out of their way to make our stay comfortable. Loved the variety of home cooked food and the chef telling us what we were eating every evening. Tents were cleaned every day. Day trips were conducted by professional guides. Loved the hot water showers and hot water bottles in bed every evening. An unforgettable experience.
There wasn't anything I didn't like!

Liked everything about the place, will be back

Verified reviewCould they reimburse my money that's all. The horrific experience forced me to check-out earlier and find an alternative stay.
They make use of the raw water from the river. They don't have a manager on-site to attend to queries. They don't take accountability. Instead, you'll be referred to a particular individual by the name of "Nedine Myburg." Who's based in South Africa and can only assit on "Whatsapp chats". How absurd is that?! There's false marketing as there is no Spa place. On a hot sunny day, you can't even take a swim as the pool is filthy dirty as if it's a pigsty.

Verified reviewsituated next to the river, beautiful setting
Very loud noises at night, music from accross the river, people talking in tents, cows with noisy bells arounf their necks. Ants everywhere, in the tent, in the dining area, a huge problem, that needs attention.

Verified reviewThe staff were excellent and friendly, I could not fault them. They tried their best in everyway
The rooms were OVER RUN by ants. To the point you could not leave anything on the floor including your luggage. You could not even sit on a chair with your feet on the floor. The shower either burnt the skin off your body or was ice cold. You cannot use a mixer tap with Gas. There was only one plug provided in the room which is below standard, even the most basic accommodation provides 2 plug points. The fan which was at the only plug is right next to your face, ie 20cm. Therefore if you want it on full because it is so hot, the person sleeping on that side must except strong wind into their face all night. The beer we were served was expired in 2022, when we asked for a non expired beer they didn't have any cold ones. This to me was completely unacceptable and below standard for what you are paying. Only one flask of water is provided for your stay. The food was exceptionally average. There was barely enough to feed everyone and given they force everyone to sit together at one table (even though you would prefer a romantic night with your partner) it was very awkward when the food started running out and they did not offer more food. We were suppose to have stayed 4 nights but decided to leave after the first night as the place was completely sub standard. The cost is extravagant for what you get. If it was cheaper it would be justified.
