How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewIt is cheap and very well located, shared bathrooms were always available and the office has drinking water available
The office hours were not followed very well, they would just close it in a working day with little notice (just a paper in the door the day before). The lady working there looked mad all the time. The windows would just close loudly by itself in the middle of the night. They have no place to leave the luggage if you need before or after your staying time.

Verified reviewThe location is amazing!! They have a private ponton with stingrays swimming underneath. Close to everything, the rooms were super comfy (a bit stuffy sometimes but we knew that).
The lady at the reception didn’t let us leave our baggage’s for just a few hours since our boat was leaving later. We stayed on their ponton until we had to leave so would of been the same to leave our bags at reception. The man was really nice and helpful.
The owner has his rules, and I have to abide by them. We have signs all around the property and as you walk into the office you see the signs as well, that we do not store luggage. This space in the office is reserved for incoming guests. Please be mindful of that before posting about the workers. We only work here, we do not make the rules. Thank you.

There is no ac only a fan so it gets quite hot in the room.

Verified reviewThis place is awesome! I think the location is FABULOUS & the price is very RIGHT! The hangout area is wonderful to decompress, hammocks in both front and back of property and a the guest house is fenced for a little added security! Loved the private dock and the swimming area, used it daily!
The ladder at the private dock went missing :( oops! I booked this because I wanted access to a communal kitchen, turns out it was shut down. That’s ok, but you need to update so people don’t expect that. Lastly, the guesthouse ran out of drinking water. Huge disappointment, I’m super environmentally conscious and having to buy plastic water bottles was upsetting for me.
We did update our booking page and nowhere on it would you have found that we have a kitchen area. Our water is given as a kind gesture, if the shops run out of water what can we do but wait like everyone else to buy, most hotels here don't even offer water or if they do you have to pay for it. Next time think of those before posting a review.

Honestly - the hostel was a bit gh***o, not luxe at all. They proudly proclaimed that they don't store bags, don't even ask, no exceptions - didn't seem to match the vibe of Caye Caulker overall. Bathrooms were small and there were only two of them. They didn't have any water to offer the next day. The room wasn't overly nice either. It was disappointing!
The owners are local and very well respected in our island, for you to say we are gh***o because we don't store luggage is hilarious, check the other hotels around the island it's the same, no one stores luggage. If you wanted a private room with private bathroom, you could have booked one because we do offer those, but you decided to book our cheaper rooms. and we offer water as a kind gesture, other guesthouses, don't offer or either charge for it, when the shops don't have water, we have to wait just like anyone else buying. Verified reviewGreat location, just over a five minute walk from where the ferry drops you off. In amongst lots of bars but wasn’t rowdy. Had option to pay in cash or card.
The shared toilet was a bit far away for night time visits but was fine for me during daylight.
