How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewThe accommodation was fantastic, tucked away from the town, but beautiful scenery and waking up to the bird song each morning was heaven! The breakfast was lovely. Our host was very knowledgeable and gave us some great suggestions for places to visit and things to do. We would definitely come back here, it was a little bit of luxury compared to some of the other places we've stayed. Our kids loved it too! So peaceful and beautiful.
I would say you need transport here, we had a hire car so we're able to get around easily. I think it might be more of a struggle without your own transport.

Verified reviewThe is the PERFECT place to stay if you want to explore western Belize. Easy access to San Ignacio, Barton Creek, Mountain pine ridge and more. The setting here is peaceful and serene. I never expected to have a pool at accommodationso like this but we did and my daughter was thrilled. Dogs and chickens wander the property amongst beautiful landscaping. I would 100% come back to Yuma's if I ever return to this area!

It would have been great to have a dinner option so as we did not have to drive into town - but totally understand that it was not advertised as such.

The owner welcomed us to her little slice of paradise and truly left no detail overlooked. Although the location is slightly removed from the city center, the owner provided helpful details and recommendations for reliable taxi services and food delivery options, making it easy for guests without a car to enjoy their stay. Verified reviewThe Yumas resort has an amazing location—close to the city yet perfectly secluded by the river, giving you the feeling of being far away from it all. The cottages are exceptionally clean with a modern design. The beds are comfortable, and the bathrooms are spacious. The patios are open and covered, furnished with lovely patio furniture, making them the perfect spot to enjoy a breakfast. Christelle, the property manager, was incredibly helpful with suggestions for local dining and was such a pleasant person to interact with. Highly recommended!

Verified reviewThe property is built on a lovely stretch of land near a beautiful flowing river with clean, yet basic amenities.
With the rainy environment in the Belizean forest, it is hard to reach via car and since the property doesn’t offer food, this can be problematic. It cost us $40 USD Round trip to get food and we were unable to eat outside due to the bugs. The property is clean but has basic amenities but with rates that should include much more - it doesn’t include housekeeping (just trash removal), access to food (besides snacks and a small, yet pricey continental breakfast), 2 towels per stay.
Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry the jungle environment in Belize did not meet your expectations. We are a 5-minute drive from town and offer a meal delivery service to your cabana for USD 5. The higher rates during your stay were due to the peak Christmas holiday season. Additionally, we helped organize shuttle services and taxis at no extra charge. Our team assisted with additional laundry and cleaning services as your cabana was left in poor condition, which is not typical for our guests. We respect the environment, so towels and linens are not replaced daily for short stays, as clearly stated in our policy. Most of our guests are astonished by the beauty of our lodge by the river and we consistently receive high ratings. We appreciate your feedback and will continue to improve our services. Verified reviewThe sound of the insects and frogs in the evening were amazing and the cabana was setup perfectly to capture the night sounds whether you are inside or outside.
We loved the setting because it was remote. Getting food delivery was a bit tricky without a car.

Verified reviewThe property is well- hidden in a little bit of paradise. The rooms were just great, “chic” and superclean. It is a fantastic place! Highly highly reccommended. A note on the staff: -Crystal ( hope spelling is right!). She was superhelpful with info from booking to check-out. Great host - cleaners ( apologies as I dont know their names). Just fantastic! Also, I left a large amount of money in the room when we left ( thought I lost it somewhere else) . Everything was returned to me after few days. Chapeau!!

Verified reviewThe location is convenient to visit some of the attractions of the area. Loved the details of the interior design and decor of the lodge. The manager is available for any questions and suggestions to give.
We went in March and It was too hot and even with the air conditioning it's been challenging. We didn't have the chance to enjoy any of the outdoors around the lodge because it was extremely hot.
