How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Our host, April, was absolutely amazing. We had to check-in late due to a hiking injury requiring hospital treatment. April was more than accommodating about this, and actually provided us with walking sticks, ice pack and extra pillows to elevate my foot upon arrival. She even gave us some great suggestions for alternative activities so we could continue to enjoy our holiday in Banff. The breakfast bar was well stocked with good variety, and the room had plenty of space and extremely comfortable. The location is great, just a short picturesque walk across the bridge into downtown Banff. Once again, thank you April for making our stay so wonderful. We were sad to leave.

Exactly as advertised and spotlessly clean. April was very welcoming and helpful. Bed comfy and shower was powerful. Self service breakfast worked well for us. An easy 10 minute walk into Banff and on the bus route for Sulphur mountain and gondola. Highly recommend.

Breakfast was disappointing. Expected to be served a complete breakfast, but were left to help ourselves to a rather limited selection with no service at all, e.g. have to make own coffee/tea, etc.

Nothing really. But it would have been very helpful if a sharp knife could have been provided to cut food. Also a straightforward kettle. The existing one is difficult to use. A new microwave might also be helpful as not all the buttons work on the existing one.
Good location 10 mins walk to town centre. Breakfast is self service and the shared kitchen area was free to use any time so we could make sandwiches for lunch or a snack. The owner April, provided home baked cakes every afternoon (good and bad 😊). There is also a microwave so you could have a pizza or microwave evening meal if you wanted.bThere is a lovely garden to sit out in

We had a lovely stay at Wits End and would recommend a stay there. The location is perfect, within 5-10 minutes you can walk into Banff. April was a great host, she made us feel very welcome and gave us some good tips for exploring the area. The breakfast was good and there were plenty of options. The room was comfortable and clean. Thanks for the lovely stay!

The property had a great kitchen and garden area which was great to use! The room was cozy and had all of the amenities we needed. The location was great and about a 10 minute walk into Banff. Perfect for a quieter stay.

Thank you so much April for being such a fantastic host - you really made At Witz End feel like a home away from home. The B&B was located in a good location a short walk from the centre of town and was equipped with snacks, fresh fruit, breakfast supplies and tea/coffee. We had a very comfortable stay and would recommend this lovely B&B to anyone visiting the Banff area. P.s. thank you again for giving my partner a hiking stick to help his knee on our long hikes, we were very grateful for this!

There wasn’t anything I didn’t like it felt like home away from home and we loved our stay.
It was the perfect spot, easy walk to downtown Banff and close to all the local trails with heaps to see and so close by.

Very homely and comfortable accommodation, a quite location, a scenic short walk over a footbridge into town. A wonderful and helpful host, lovely fresh breakfast and snack provisions. Enjoyed a wonderful night at the outside fireplace.

Nothing to add. We really enjoyed our stay.
There were plenty of breakfast options, including fresh fruit, cereals and yummy muffins. The bed was very comfortable, like sleeping on a cloud. The location was superb as it's a quick walk to Town center and easy to find when travelling.

April is a fantastic host who runs a lovely place. I was staying for a couple of days to attend a conference at the Fairmont hotel, which is only a short walk away. My room was lovely, I much appreciated being able to have breakfast whenever convenient and the living room/kitchen is a nice place to chill after a busy day out.
