Our first stay was a year prior in May and was perfectly comfortable, waking up to a crisp morning breeze and birdsong through the window. This time in early July was nearly too hot to sleep. Was it oddly nostalgic to sleep atop the sheets with two fans circulating a synthetic breeze? Yeah kind of. Did we have a deep relaxing night of sleep like our previous stay? I can’t exactly say I did. We also had a pretty loud group of guests hanging out very late outside our window after the bistro patio had closed, so it was certainly a different experience than previously. I can’t blame them for the climate of course, and the fans were sufficient, but keep it in mind if staying during the peak of summer heat.

Beautiful property and grounds in a very beautiful part of Quebec. Perfect if you love the outdoors but don’t always want to camp, or you just really want a nice shower and a comfy bed after a long day on the water or riding the hills! Staff is always friendly and helpful, the facilities are well kept and clean, and the breakfast is a major highlight! The town of Oka has some lovely attractions as well, including the farmers market right on the water. Lots to do in the region too, including some great trails for biking, and delicious agritourism spots.

Too close to noisy traffic. Overpriced.

It’s interesting to be in a historic building. The bathrooms are lovely - it wasn’t crowded, so the fact that they’re shared was not a big deal. The adjacent bistro is terrific! Included breakfast is a nice touch and quite decent.

Sound really travels in this building, although it was never a problem - it seemed everyone understood and was respectful of the atmosphere - it did make coming and going, using the washroom, etc into a semi-tense stealth exercise which deviated from an otherwise relaxing atmosphere.

Location was beautiful, peaceful and relaxing, while only 40mins drive to downtown Montreal. The sense of history of the place was all around and made for such a unique experience. Also one of the best included breakfasts we’ve had in our travels.

It was very quiet during our stay which was wonderful... a bike trail goes right through so there were many who stopped at the Bistro patio while we walked the grounds, after enjoying a simple fresh breakfast in the cafeteria I was not certain what the shared facilities would be like but there were many available and quite large in some instances .. we had a toilet and sink in our room...another just a sink - so different for every room

There was no hair dryer on site. I would request a room with ensuite bath if I was staying longer.

The rooms were surprisingly large and the beds very comfy (double size). Each room has a sink. We were in the Chambre Religieux. You need to go down the hall a bit for the toilette and shower but the space is private Shower and toilette and a door that locks. Abundance of towels to use. Very clean and quiet. Continental breakfast had a nice selection of cereal, breads to toast and the Abbaye jams, creton and peanut butter, warm melt in your mouth croissants (chocolate and plain), boiled eggs, and fresh local apples. The food at Le Sacré bistro on site was amazing. There was a coffee machine that dispensed freshly brewed coffee, lattes, cappuccino, espresso and hot chocolate available 24/7 along with juice and filtered water. Staff were very accommodating. The Abbaye store had cheese, wine, snacks and a deli bar if you wanted to have a picnic lunch. Close to hiking, cycling.

This place was once an abbey, and they promote the idea of a quiet, calm experience. However, they also host wedding parties at the same location, so your experience can be influenced by the behavior of other guests.

The breakfast was simple. There was quite some variety but not very special, more what you would expect from a upgraded motel.

Based on the description on the hotel profile here on booking.com I selected Queen room with private bathroom. I did not get any of these, which I paid for. Reception at the hotel simply told me that I’m correct, that the info on booking.com is missleading. That ruined my trip, as I was not ready to squeeze myself on double bed with someone and did not expect to go across the hallway to go to the bathroom. Again-I paid for private bathroon with queen bad!

The beds are too small for two people. It's extremely noisy especially because it seems to be a favorite location for school classes/teenagers. No AC in the room but also no possibility to open the window due to a high number of mosquitoes. The mosquito net had a big hole in it.

The surroundings by nature were great. The breakfast was good.

Everything was great but the Wi-Fi was very weak! Not a problem!

What a peaceful experience! Founded in 1881 by the Cistercian monks, Oka Abbey is coming back to life today through its tourist lodging, gastronomic restaurant and attractions that will transport you back in time. We really enjoyed our stay for the following reasons: 1) the abbey is a rich historical building that is still beautiful; everywhere there are huge photographs depicting the lifestyle of the monks, one hundred years ago 2) everything is extremely clean 3) our room -number 224- was quite large with a sink and a private toilet, a view to the inner court and the double bed along with the bedding was ''first class'' 4) the continental buffet breakfast offered many options including the famous OKA cheese and cheese bread: you can buy those products and many more at the store located beside the abbey 5) the staff is extremely friendly and very helpful 6) there is free parking just in front of the entrance 7) the whole area along with the village is very safe 8) there is an elevator 9) the on-site restaurant ''Le Sacré Bistro'' is very pleasant and the food d-e-l-i-c-i-o-u-s 10) the chapel, illuminated at night, is spectacular!

scary place, the huge building is completely empty you have to use the key to pass from one section to another

if you want to go there, you should know that the place is originally something like hospital. I went with my wife and we were the only people in the whole huge building the place is very old which is ok but it is very scary and not comfortable at all also, we went for few minutes in front of the building and is full of mosquitoes even though we were around 6pm the backyard is not taken care of we didn’t sleep there and left after couple of hours we don’t recommend it at all
