Breakfast was ok….coffee and OJ. It was on the house so a nice gesture. Room was exceptionally clean and had had lots of character! We dined at the St. Patrice restaurant on site. It was fantastic…beyond our expectations! It was a great stay and would definitely return.

Arriving after a long drive from Halifax, I was greeted by friendly and accommodating people who showed me to my room and ensured I was comfortable. The room itself was lovely. I had a long drive the next day, but chose instead to sleep a bit later and enjoy the coffee and the very nice room. The restaurant next door has a great menu and, on a Wednesday night, a great atmosphere. I'm embarrassed to say that I can't speak French, but that was no barrier to the kind people at the restaurant and Mr. James.

Huge bathtub! A choice of two queen size beds. Within walking distance of restaurants and a lovely park. Beautiful character house.

Mattresses were a little too soft for our preference. Room was on 2nd floor which made it difficult for us to bring in luggage (we are seniors). Parking was across a busy street.

It met the basic necessities for an overnight stay. Staff was very friendly.

No A/C and being a basement room it smelt musty

This was the worst place we have ever stopped at. We arrive to find no one anywhere so we call the number and a man answers to tell us that all the information we need is in the mailbox with an envelope with our name on it. The first sentence is "Welcome to the Mr. James HOSTEL." The paper continues with info about the keys, how to unlock the back door and lock the exterior door each time we go out. The owner can't speak very good English and we had a hard time trying to understand him. There is only enough room to park two cars and there are three rooms so one of us is out of luck. It took one of the other guests to explain to us that one of us was going to have to park across the street in some kind of abandoned parking lot. We asked for a room on the main floor and got one in the attic. My husband is 73 and expected to carry 2 bags up about 22 steps with the possibility of a heart attack. The air conditioner was a unit on the floor with a hose sticking out the window. The room was long and narrow with beds at either end and a TV stuck on the wall at one end of the room with nowhere to sit other than some poor excuse for an antique settee. The bathroom was large enough to hold a party-they should have used that area to extend the bedroom. The ceiling was a slanted attic roof which my husband would have to walk down the middle of the room in order not to hit his head. Breakfast consisted of a paper bag with our identification in the frig with some juice and granola bars. We have travelled extensively through Europe, North Africa and the Americas and we have never encountered such rude and non caring owners as these people. We did not stay there and went to a another hotel. I asked for our money back but never received and answer so we have no choice but to let our co-workers at Ontario Power Generation and the Ontario Ministry of Health know by e-mails what kind of place this is.

large room, very clean, comfy beds - and all amenities (a kitchen that can be used in the shared space), and a restaurant attached that serves absolutely delicious meals - bonus! they have super friendly staff, thanks, Étienne, we loved our stay!

Personally not a fan of basement rooms - but ours was bright and well-ventilated, so overall I highly recommend Auberge James.

Maybe a couple of comfy chairs on the deck but we found some to use.

Lovely old house with interesting architecture and unique interior design. Very clean and everything thoughtfully prepared. Easy check-in despite no personal contact.

Nobody was on-site as it was Monday and restaurant closed. However, good and prompt communication by text

Wonderful decor, huge room, comfortable bed

The bathroom needs hooks for clothes and a towel rack. Bedside table would be nice. All ads say breakfast included. We got coffee and orange juice.

This auberge is beautifully and tastefully decorated with antiques. The beds were most comfortable. I love this place. I would certainly go back to it.
