How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewOur host, Valerie, was delightful, pleasant and very helpful. Chez Hubert is in an ideal location within the Old City walls and on very quiet street, a gentle walk to all attractions. Delicious, plentiful breakfasts were a perfect start our wonderful days in beautiful Quebec City. THANK YOU!

Verified reviewPerfect location. Cutest B&B! Kids loved the game room (fusbal!) and we all enjoyed the complimentary water (with ice maker), coffee, tea, and maple cookies. This place really helped us immerse ourselves into the Quebec City vibe…we felt like we were in Europe the whole time.

Verified reviewThe breakfast was good. The girls who attended to us were very accommodating and friendly.
There was no WiFi in our room. We couldn’t connect our phones or tablets to the internet. It was advertised that Wi-Fi worked throughout the B&B. The tv initially did not work but after being corrected by staff it worked. It didn’t offer a good selection of channels. We couldn’t cast our Netflix or prime to the tv. The shower was petite (we had no idea how larger people could use it) and the door would slip off the magnetic tracks. It was very hard to bath and wash your hair. However, the water pressure and temperature was good. The living room, accessible to all, was too hot to use comfortably. There was no air conditioning and the little fan didn’t do much. Most accommodations include coffee, tea, creamers, etc. 24/7 for late night people and early risers. There was a coffee machine but no pods provided to make coffee. There were no paper towels or napkins if you needed to wipe spills or your hands. The tv in the living didn’t work as well. There were 3 remotes so some instructions on their usage would have been appreciated.

Verified reviewGreat location and large bedrooms. Easy to access the property. Onsite parking was very convenient.
It felt more like an air b&b than an actual bed and breakfast. There was a pleasant young lady that served breakfast every morning, but that was the only staff we saw during a 4 night stay. Communications through the booking app were not responded to. Luckily, we had no emergencies or problems. The breakfast was meh for a bed and breakfast that seems to pride itself on its breakfasts. I joked that the kiwi was sliced so thin that they clearly had designated one kiwi for the four of us to last all four nights of our stay. It was enough food, it just felt cheap. The croissants were very good.

Verified reviewLocation, breakfast, complimentary coffee tabs in the room (Nespresso)
Beds were too small and unconfortable. We had to take off our shoes and wear slippers, although the floor was not very clean. The fridge was not in the room, but in the common area, and it was too small for all the guests. The room was noisy, as you could actually hear the other guests on the same floor as if they were in the same room and the windows were not closing properly, which meant you could actually hear all the noise in the street. Wifi was very bad.

Nothing.

Verified reviewVery well located in the old town which is closed to all the attractions. Comes with free parking which is a big plus where parking can be very expensive and challenging in the old town. Breakfast was basic but freshly prepared each morning. The common living room was great. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
Having to climb up 3 floors with our bags was a big challenge. The wooden floor makes it very noisy. Room space was tight for a family of 4.

Verified reviewThe breakfast both mornings was exceptional! We've never had breakfasts that good in any hotel/B&B we've ever stayed at!
The parking situation behind the building isn't the best, but...other than that, all I can say is that I would totally stay at Chez Hubert again in the future!

Small room, really small shower, also we added an extra person so the room would have worked best for 2 people and not 3.

Verified reviewOld unique property. Very clean and comfortable. Breakfasts EXCELLENT. Staff wonderful and helpful. Good lounge room. Very quiet at night. Good beds, towels and linens. Got to meet Milou (the old house cat).
Lots of stairs in the property so not good for you people with mobility issues (stairs). Location also uphill from areas in old town.

Verified reviewExcellent location - walking distance to the conference centre, near many tourist sites and several amazing restaurants close by. There was also a delicious breakfast, comfortable rooms and flexible check in process. Hosts were friendly and communication was very easy both in advance and during my stay.
Bit of an older building, and at times can hear noise from other guests.

Verified reviewWe loved the little location. And the breakfast was great!
Floors are creaky, no elevator, no ice machine, very I expensively furnished. Nevertheless, I would not want to dissuade anyone from staying here, as long as they can climb stairs with luggage. The host, Valerie, is great!!

The bathroom was in a separate room across the landing. It was a private bathroom just for us but not en suite.
