Reviews of Buccaneer Inn 3 stars

I have stayed at the Buccaneer Inn a number of times over the years. I like it because I like the rooms (large, full kitchens) and I like the human scale of the property - it is not a large impersonal operation. It is not for everyone - eg you might have to climb a few stairs - but it certainly works for me. Also the customer service is excellent.

It could have been cooler in British Columbia!

The rooms were clean, comfortable, attractive, and well equipped.

Most of the parking spaces outside were shorter than our vehicle (a 20' RV). We got one of the larger spaces, and it worked fine for us, but I was glad there weren't a lot of big vehicles that day

Stairs with suitcase, sticky tile floors

The hotel is very close to the ferry port, so really convenient. The young woman who checked us in was lovely. I can’t remember her name but she is from Brazil. The room was lovely but no air conditioning.

The room was quite small but adequate. No air conditioning but we had a fan and were able to open the window.

we got an upgrade to the cottage which is absolutely delightful. Would recommend booking it as it is really a house lovingly done up.

the driveway to exit is on a dangerous corner, Yikes!

The king bed was amazing! Also the toiletries, shower and size of suite. The Brazilian receptionist who checked us in was also very helpful with recommendations.

The staff were hard to find the morning after we checked in because we wanted to inquire about a late check out. In the end we just checked out late anyway and it wasn’t an issue but we didn’t see a soul apart from the cleaning staff.

We weren’t expecting top class, but the room smelled awful. We thought it would dissipate with the windows open while we went for dinner - but no. Certainly wouldn’t go again

We've stayed here before and it is a great location close to the ferry and nice area to walk to the water and restaurants.

This one time, the room was a little tight for two people. Would be good for one person. Other than that, it was fine.

Perfect location close to the ferry. A cute place, clean, spacious room, well stocked with everything you need. Pleasant staff.

Good central location located near shops. The room was clean, presentable with everything in working order.

There was no air conditioning and only fans. It was quite a hot and humid day so the room was also really hot inside. I had no choice but to keep both fans on full speed during the night which was very noisy. The room was also quite noisy as it was located right near a set of stairs where all the guests were coming and going to and from their rooms and talking loudly. It wasn't terrible and would book as a last minute/one night but not worth the price I paid truthfully speaking.

Absolutely spotless! Very well equipped kitchen - perfect for self catering. Comfortable sofa in sitting room and fabulous bed guaranteed a great night’s sleep. Our room was very quiet. The Buccaneer Inn gives excellent value and the information folder was invaluable for our stay on Vancouver Island.
