How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Verified reviewThe studio was lovely. It has obviously been renovated and is super fresh and clean… apart from the bathroom but that was acceptable. Had a lovely view over the pool. Katrina, the manager, was very accommodating and great with communication. The location was just right for us.
The check in was a bit confusing with a few different companies using the property. There was nooone on the desk initially when we arrived …and we weren’t offered any maps or information on the area. The corridor areas are more tired.

Verified reviewThe unit itself is well maintained and furnished and has everything we need for a comfortable 2 night stay. Katrina is a lovely and responsible host.
The lady at the front desk was nonchalant and inattentive and was constantly on her phone. When we called from the room to the front desk, no one answered. Washing machine was out of order and there was no signage, leaving our clothes wet and soggy and the machine took our money. Staff was rude and claimed it was not her responsibility to fix. No housekeeping as the unit belongs to an independent owner. Lacked some attention to details - one packet of coffee for a 2 night stay, a QR code that doesn’t work to introduce to the place, moldy dark hallways and paid parking that is not specified in the details.

Verified reviewLovely property in a great location. Had fridge, toaster, kettle and coffee machine along with microwave. All what we required. Very quiet and had the pool and hot tubs to use. The tv had a great selection of programmes and the bed was very comfortable. Would definitely stay here again 😀

When we rocked up we were told there was no cleaning. This was no mentioned in the add and we requested to have the room cleaned once while in the middle of our stay because form our snow boots it’s a very small room we were stepping on rocks from the outside of the stay which we brought in. The room definitely needed a clean after we requested we were handed a broom to clean our selfs and we brought all this cold fridge food to find our fridge was broken and we reception and they fixed it and went into our room when we were not there which I wasn’t happy about and then transferred our personally items into a another fridge and our travel magnet got lost in the mean time which I was so excited to take back to my country we got it up in the mountains at balckcomb which we did the gondola only one day so we couldn’t replace it and the staff had admitted to loosing it I just don’t think they should have gone in our room with out us knowing because things got lost. The receptionist were very focused on their gossip over serving customers. Definitely was not worth what we paid and to top it off we looked at staying in the hotel seperate from this booking or room and there was a two bedroom with a fireplace so much bigger than what we got and it came with room service for 180 cad a night so nearly 4 times cheaper than what we paid and you got a lot more service and room. Definitely not happiest customer

My listing clearly states it is an apartment and does not provide daily housekeeping or room service. This is the same for ALL Cascade Lodge suites. When you inquired about cleaning, we provided cleaning supplies at your request since you chose not to book an additional mid-stay cleaning for a fee. You mentioned you were satisfied with this arrangement at the time. Regarding pricing, your stay was during the high-demand New Year’s period, and the rate reflected peak-season market prices and a newly renovated suite, with quality appliances. The $180 rate you mentioned is for low-season stays and standard suites. For Whistler’s high season, your rate offered excellent value for the location. We understand that, as international travellers, these pricing variations may not be immediately apparent, and we appreciate your understanding. I sincerely regret the issue with your fridge and the loss of your magnet, which I understand was a meaningful keepsake. When the fridge repair was requested, we informed you someone would enter to resolve the issue and transfer your items to preserve them. I deeply regret that this led to your item being misplaced. cleaning fee too expensive

The Cascade Lodge cleaning staff is unionized and sets their prices independently, so unfortunately, I have no control over this aspect.
