Parking spot was hard to find. On the back side of the building there was a small parking and some people parked their car the way that no els can fit his car even though there was enough space, and no one was checking on the one.

Great location allowing you to walk through the city center. The co-ed dorm was booked full but still clean with friendly occupants. The large fully stocked kitchen allows you to cook and store food on your stay. The hostel has an easy layout with multiple common areas to unwind and connect with others.

Visitors should be aware that the hours the Reception is closed also means the hostel itself is locked to non-guests. ie: if you're arriving a few hours before check-in time and hoping to ditch your bags, this won't be possible. Staff are super helpful and I'm sure would try to accommodate if given enough notice, but I reached out two days before arrival and didn't receive a response. I checked out in the morning, but I imagine you might have a similar issue if wanting to leave bags after checkout. Bag storage is typically one of the benefits of staying in a hostel/hotel rather than an AirBnb, so if there was a better way to accommodate this, that would be fabulous! Otherwise an excellent place.

Always a great stay at the Dancing Bear. Location is unbeatable and free parking is awesome. Easy to walk everywhere--restaurants, shopping, bars and pubs, the lake trail, coffee shops, etc. The Inn is comfortable, clean, quiet, and affordable. Staff were friendly and helpful as usual. I think this was my third stay, and always the first place I check for vacancy when I plan a trip to Nelson.

A lovely hostel in a great location! Sometimes hostels have a lot of rooms, and very little space for all of those guests to hang out. However, Dancing Bear Inn was perfect. There weren't too many guests, and there were plenty of different areas to sit and hang out which was great! Our room was really bright and comfortable, the whole hostel was very clean and all of the staff were amazing and super friendly.

you can hear some hallway noise and doors at night, but that is to be expected in hostels & shared accommodations.

very very clean and well-decorated hostel with a community atmosphere, cotton bedding, some great views. Folks kept mostly to themselves while I was there, but the communal sitting areas are really nice. Shoes-off and bath mat policy keeps the floors very clean & there are multiple bathrooms on each floor. Auto-locking doors allow for security and privacy (we were travelling with some expensive camera gear and didn’t feel worried for a minute). Mirror & sink inside the private rooms!

It was all pretty great! - bunks are a little low so for tall folks you may just have to be careful about hitting your head when you sit up in the morning but it's nothing unmanageable! Great comfort.

Very clean rooms, amazing location and a kitchen with all the appliances/items you could need. Loads of storage opportunities via a gear storage locker and very large lockers in dorm room. Absolutely amazing artwork and cozy vibes upon walking in.
