How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewLocation was good and the owners allowed a late checkout so my wife could do her mediacl Zoom meeting. No other facility in Princeton would accommodate this.
Ther was a lip on the floor going into the bathroom and this is a tripping hazard that we forgot to report to the owners.

Someone actually on site. No mice eating my muffins. Door shutting properly…….
Hi Manseau, Well, that review was a bit like cold coffee—hard to swallow, but it definitely woke us up. First, we're truly sorry your experience didn’t reflect the cozy, clean, and mouse-free vibe we aim for. While we can confirm our muffins aren't usually on the rodent menu, clearly something wasn’t up to par—and that’s on us. As for not finding someone on site: we're a small team, and sometimes we're juggling check-ins, towel emergencies, or rescuing squirrels (kidding... mostly). But your visit deserved better follow-through, and we’ll be making sure there's more visible staff presence going forward. Thank you for keeping us accountable. There is no insulation against noise, and every vehicle traveling past could be heard really loudly. The head of the shower is really low, which makes it hard to wash ones hair.

Now, about that showerhead… unless you're auditioning for a limbo competition, we admit it's a bit of a head-scratcher (literally). We're looking into options so our taller guests don’t need to practice their yoga poses just to shampoo. As for the soundproofing, we do have front-row seats to the occasional highway symphony. Some guests call it "white noise," others call it "every truck in BC saying hello." We’re exploring solutions to keep things quieter without sacrificing fresh air and mountain charm. Verified reviewWe rented this place for our travelling staff. They reported the following: 1. They were checked into a different room from what we paid for (smaller). We paid for an apartment with 2 separate rooms, they were housed in a suite with 1 room. 2. There was a rat in the room, it comes out every night. 3. There was an ant nest in the suite 4. There was a towel with dirty blood on it, as well as dirty crumbs under the bed. 5. Dirty shower 6. Dirty bed. (Our crew had to sleep on their sleeping pad on the floor in the room) 7. They preferred to camp in the wood than stay at this hotel. We paid for 13 nights but the crew only stayed for 5 nights. We brought these concerns to the management and also requested refund for the 7-8 nights that the crew did not occupy the suite. The manager reports that the crew were lying (I'm not sure why our workers will lie about their stay) and that there was no rat, no ant nest or any of the complaint our crew made. He states that he will refund us if they were able to rent the suite. He reported back that they were able to rent the suite for 2 night during the period that we paid for. He gave every excuse in the book to counter our crew's report of the place. Very defensive. It's been over a month and we have not received any refund. We gave them the opportunity to make this right but they have chosen to be deceitful. We thought it's only fair to warn other people about this place and the management. I hope they can do better or be honest.
Even with a reply to your concerns you continue to fabricate untruths. I'm going to simply reply with what we sent you when your concerns we brought to my attention: "Thank you for your message. I appreciate your concerns and would like to address them with the clarity they deserve. Firstly, I want to assure you that we were present on-site, just 10 meters from where your crew was staying. I spoke with them several times and explicitly told them to let us know if anything was not up to their standards. Surprisingly, none of these issues were brought to our attention during their stay. If your crew couldn’t find the second room, that might explain why they were sleeping together—though I must say, that seems more like a case of poor navigation skills than an accommodation issue. Regarding the other claims, I have to say they sound more like the plot of an imaginative adventure novel than a reality we recognize. From the "ant nest" to the "rat," it seems your crew may have let their creative minds run wild. I encourage you to stop by and see the place for yourself—I think you'll find it doesn't match the dramatic picture painted by your team. When I spoke with your crew, they mentioned they were quite happy, which is why these accusations are particularly surprising. They even shared with me that the highlight of their worksite experience was using the company’s iPads for gaming and streaming on the company phone’s data—something they seemed quite content about. It’s clear there’s been some miscommunication here. My wife and I take great pride in our establishment, and these false accusations have caused us considerable stress. As you mentioned, misunderstandings can occur, and I appreciate the opportunity to clarify the situation. However, based on my interactions with your crew and their apparent satisfaction during their stay, I believe your information may not reflect the actual conditions. Please feel free to visit us in person, and we can discuss this further. I’m confident you’ll find the reality far removed from the fantastical tale your crew has spun. It should have been a lot cleaner. It was booked for two adults and one child. There was one shampoo.

Verified reviewClean but needs some attention. Water pouring into bathtub because tap wouldn’t shut off. It had been happening for so long the tub was stained from the water.
Very hard to sleep as the road noise was so much. No person on staff to allow us access. Couldn’t leave message as message box was full. Finally found a staff person cleaning. Then they asked for payment again as they had no record. Phone call to apologize for no staff still insisting for payment. Finally figured it out.

While it's great to hear that you found our motel clean, we understand that the constant waterfall in your bathtub wasn't exactly the relaxing spa experience you were hoping for. We've already called in the plumber to put an end to that unwelcome serenade. As for the road noise, we’re considering planting a forest out front to muffle the sound—or at least some thicker curtains in the meantime. Your sleep is important to us, and we’ll look into better soundproofing solutions. The staff accessibility issue and the mix-up with your payment were inexcusable, and we're taking steps to ensure our team is more available and our records are accurate. We have now upgraded from our old-fashioned message box to a modern, digital system that won't fill up anytime soon. We truly regret the inconvenience you faced and would like to make it up to you.
