Staff overall weren’t the most hospitable. For the cost and hotel brand, there is definitely plenty more room to improve. Of course there were exceptions and a couple that felt that were going above.

Very nice building by the lake, Motor Inn a bit misleading

The small room at the Motor Inn with the view on the parking is quite small, but still OK. It is a bit misleading to realize that there is 2 buildings when you look at the pictures on the web site and Trip Advisor. The price, for the time of year and the type of room is a bit high to my standards.

The restaurant with view on the lake is superb. Francis, the sommelier provided interesting cues as to what local wines would fit the best with our meal. On the following morning, the sunny day breakfast view was stunning.

Art work installations around the property needed to be maintained all year round or I believe your prices should be adjusted based on the fact the “ art walk” was boring to the eye

High price paid relative to rates available ‘day of’. Floor in room needed a very thorough vacuum (lots of hair). Otherwise great, and will be back.

No mini fridge, which was disappointing. We also would have appreciated complimentary tea/coffee in the room like in most hotels. Can tell the property is older... the water pressure in the taps was quite low, there was a constant "running water" sound from the toilet, and the temperature knob in the shower fell off...

Front desk staff was very helpful an attentive. Complimentary robes and toiletries were lovely. We received a complimentary bottle of bubbly for our birthday celebration which was a really sweet touch. Room was very comfortable - the bed was VERY comfy. Lakefront location is lovely. We stayed in off-season so it was nice and quiet.

The shower could have been a bit cleaner. We are still dealing with issues of overcharging due to their "New" system. However there is progress and they have reversed some charges. Still more to go though.

The restaurant was the best part of out stay. The staff was pleasant. The room was nice and cozy.

Place wasn’t cleaned well. Trash can had previous trash, we found hair, the sheets seemed slightly dusty. Next to parking lot so you hear work sounds or cars in the AM if you want to sleep in a bit. We got the theme, but it didn’t work for us. Perhaps Devonshire would be different vs the Motor inn, so do your research unlike us as Booking.com joins the two for initial offers. The other reviews were accurate for the Motor inn. Unfortunately, disappointing for us.

Location is central, convenient overall. Parking is easy.

On arrival we we're told by the reception "your room is across the road and around the back of the shops!!!!! Needless to say that was appalling as the room was facing a carpark rubbish bins and an industrial unit!!!! Bearing in mind we booked the drake Devonshire for it's amazing lake location this was totally unacceptable. The reception staff said it was booking.coms fault as they don't put the correct pictures on the website. Is that my problem!!!!? NO ITS NOT. It was decided to move us to the actual hotel.

    Location and staff extremely helpful.

The Drake provided no idea on how to check in upon arrival except by signing up for an app, which I did not want. Check in was in or a separate building. It took a phone call, and a five-minute wait before someone answered, to check in. The meals were underwhelming — not cooked as requested and pedestrian. Overall, the meal quality was poor. The air conditioner in the room was loud and had one setting — cold or off. The room refrigerator made noises all night.

Room was a good size. It was clean. The staff were friendly. The view of the lake from the hotel restaurant was great. The view of the street and parking lot from the room was not so great.

First night, the heater / AC was failing, so I had to sleep in a very hot room and with lack of air circulation. On the 2nd night the smoke detector installed in the ceiling started to beep because the battery was off. They didn’t fix it but asked me to move to another room in another building (walked 100 meters in the night under the rain).

We were given a room that was barely 7'x9' with no window except skylight. The bed was literally wall to wall. Extremely small. Very unexpected. We booked well in advance and were given a really poor room. We asked to change rooms but that wasn't possible apparently. No chair in the room. no table. For the price that was charged this was very poor value. In the future if you are going to assign someone this room (209) you should probably let them know what to expect. This is not a good room.

There wasn't a lot that I like or that met our expectations.

The front desk staff were dismissive and rushed us through check-in even though no one was in line. Our room was cold when we arrived. The food at the restaurant was mediocre. If you are coming here with bikes, there is no secure storage, just an open-air wood shed. Spend your money elsewhere!

The location was good; the restaurant had a nice view. Nice decorations.
