Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

CanadaExcellent place! Not only did it have all the essentials, but so much thinking clearly went into providing the details, the little things that are just convenient. Everything in the apartment was clean and high quality. Very well equipped kitchen. Thank you.

The Unicorn was magical! The host was polite and welcoming. The place was clean and spacious; the water had great pressure and was hot; the beds were comfortable and the porch area was a great place to relax and watch the birds in the morning. Oh and there were even chocolate covered cherries in the fridge for each guest!!

MalaysiaAll good.
This was a gem. The host was super kind and the space had everything we needed. He had a lighted unicorn in the driveway which was really cool. The location was also near the Super C and a couple of other shops. It is not far from Old Quebec City. Quebec City is not the most accessible place but since we had a car, it was not difficult to get to where we wanted. However, it is not difficult to book an Uber ride too.

SwitzerlandThe only thing that can be improved are the mattresses, that for a heavy and tall man like me (190 cm/6'3, 90 kg) felt a bit unstable, i.e. Not very supportive.
The host, Richard, made sure we felt like home in his property. He guided us on how to use the washing machine and other facilities in such a kind way. We also got some very tasty hand-made sweet delicacies. The kitchen is very well furnished, the TV has Netflix, and at the entrance of the rental unit (second floor) there is a very ingenious terrasse with 3x glass garage doors that turn the terrasse into an impactful patio, perfect for summer days (however I was hosted at the end of April, when temperatures are still a bit cold). I d be happy to be hosted again anytime by Richard.

CanadaA few items in the pantry need to be replenished for the next time. Richard probably did not realize they are used up. Cooking oil, black pepper, coffee and sugar. No big deal we bought some from the store.
The apartment is very clean and tidy. Richard is a great host. It gets a little noisy in the sunroom because it’s facing the street but you can’t hear the traffic noise inside the bedroom. All bedding and towels were freshly washed and bright white. We loved the Cascades, Richard recommended the place and it’s well worth seeing. The Unicorn outside the apartment is quite a sight when it’s lit up after dark. Close to the old city, walking distance from a supermarket and a poutine place.

We stayed with family and friends, and it was the ideal place for our vacation. It's homey, comfortable, and in an excellent location. We have other options, but we chose this property specifically because of the positive reviews of the host, and indeed, Richard, is amazing. He greeted us upon our arrival, explained the house rules, and even recommended places to visit. I like the location because it is close to Super C (supermarket) and a gas station. Montmorency Falls is also about a 10-15 minute drive away (non-Quebec residents must pay an entrance fee). Also, the Old Downtown, Fairmont Le Chateau Frontenac, and Parc Royale are all within a 13-minute drive. It is close to the highway, so it is easy to avoid traffic when travelling outside of the city. The dining/veranda/terrace (all in one) area of the house was my favourite; it was so relaxing and cool. The kitchen has everything you need for cooking. Toiletries and washing machine Pods are provided as well. Netflix is also available on the TV. It is a complete package in our opinion, if you are looking for a place to relax, get a homely feel, easy access to tourist spots, a few steps to groceries, and a warm host- Appartement Maufils is the place to be.

AustraliaLovely roomy apartment. Beautiful open/ closed front upper deck area to eat meals or relax. Fantastic new washing and clothes dryer machines. The host Richard was extremely helpful, even offered to drive us into the city when we were not keen to take our car in. Also easy to bus into the old town. A Super C (supermarket) just across the road which was great to buy any food supplies.

SingaporeIt is not near Quebec City, but the advantage would be free parking and that it is quiet. So it's best for those with cars. There are construction materials around the front door, but we know it from previous reviews and the owner was apologetic about it. Hope he finish his project soon and I'm sure it'll be great!
The accommodation is on the second storey of the house where a friendly owner lives. It is homely and beds are comfortable. A large washer and dryer are available, which is really helpful. Free car parking on site, and the owner is really great in lending us a carpark pass for parking in central Quebec City which is extremely useful.

The host was wonderful and had a pleasant personality. It was close to highway, so the commute was easy. There was a grocery store nearby which opens till 10 PM which was very convenient. Host also gave his parking pass for us to use in downtown, thanks for that. The place gave us a homely vibe, we liked it a lot.

We were a little unsure about booking this property but it easily exceeded our expectations. It is well furnished, clean and everything worked perfectly. It was ideally situated for the things that we wanted to do, there is an excellent supermarket which is a three minute walk away. Richard, the owner lives underneath the apartment and is available for any problems, otherwise he leaves you alone to enjoy your stay. The best thing is the huge illuminated unicorn on the balcony, you control the switch to light it up whenever you want.

CanadaThere were not enough space for 5 adults and we have to walk about 15 steel stairs to go to the unit. Another thing is that the host was renovating outside the unit and there was building tools and lumbers on the floor. My suggestion was that he should not rent the unit during renovation.
The host was friendly and the place was clean, although all rooms were built on an attic.
