How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Had a 9 month old baby and her door was squeaking to the point of it waking her up every time we went in and out. Politely asked the reception team to help us fix it and they told me they had spoken to the owner of the lodge who advised we as parents should just use the door less. Awful response and service.
That is not true. We never said that and we sent someone over to oil the hinge on the door. Please speak the truth when reviewing a property.

The stuff asked me to pay for the damage we did not cause. That cannot provide sufficient evidence and force us to pay the damage.
The guest completely damaged the fridge door, it has to be replaced and cannot be fixed. The unit is inspected before and after each stay. Damages incurred were more than the damage deposit given. We have never charged a guest for any damages before.

Verified reviewIt was in great location, parking available, lockers and WiFi available. Good view of the village, small balcony as well.
The hot tub was under renovation, which we did not know about… and we spent the money to buy swimsuits on our way to Whistler… that was a shame. No compensation was given for this omission of info.

Verified reviewThe apartment is right in the village at a convenient location and parking was relatively easier than some other lodges in the area.
However, there is a trap! There is a hidden charge of CAD$155 for cleaning fee on top of the listed rental fee, right at checkout and not clearly stated on the listing. The worst thing is that they require you to take out the garbage and bring it all the way down to the garbage disposal centre at the parking lot, and to put all the dishes into the dishwasher plus turn the washer on upon checkout. Which means we did a lot of cleaning ourselves (they say otherwise you get charged a penalty). For such an expensive cleaning fee, you would’ve thought they will take care of all cleaning and not ask guests to clean up after themselves. Especially since I booked this through Booking.com (so it’s not an Airbnb rental). The apartment is old, which is acceptable, but the kitchen utensils are not entirely clean, looked very used, and we didn’t even want to sit on the dining table chairs because we did not feel the apartment to be entirely clean and hygienic. The very high cleaning fee was not worth it at all.

Verified reviewGreat stay for a family. Close to the chair lifts. Right in the village. Parking was onsite. Make sure you have a smaller vehicle. Parking is very tight. Unit only provides one car for parking.
Kitchen cupboards were broken. Still usable, but broken. Carpet could be replaced.

The toaster didn't work, the kitchen tap was very loose, the hot tub shower and changeroom were rusty and tiles were degrading. There was no soap or shampoo at the hot tub shower. The extra fees for parking were excessive considering we couldn't park for 24 hrs and ski the day.

We provide soap and shampoo in the condo so they can be used as well. Parking for 24 hours isn't possible as the guest wouldn't have anywhere to park when they check in,
