Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

CanadaIt was a bit too hot in the rooms for sleeping. Appreciated multiple windows and the fan, and I understand that the building doesn't have AC. Maybe multiple, more powerful fans in each room would help? The internet connection was also pretty poor.
VERY clean for a hostel, especially the bathrooms which was impressive. Tidy private room, clean bedding. Nice atmosphere in the hostel overall - everyone was really friendly and accommodating, both staff and people staying.

United Arab EmiratesStorage is limited if you are carrying large bags. Lockers are available, but they can only accommodate hand-carry luggage or backpacks, making it difficult to store a large 32 kg suitcase if you’re arriving directly from the airport. Additionally, the bedsheet and pillow had an unpleasant odor.
Great value for money. The bathrooms were well maintained and cleaned regularly. The reception staff were hospitable and helpful, and breakfast was served daily (though with the same options each day). The location is a bit remote, but the beach access is excellent, and all grocery options are available at Jericho Village, about a 20–25 minute walk away.

CanadaThe massive dorms, with something like 20 beds split into sections of 2 bunk beds (so 4 beds) only separated by half walls are something from the past. In general, Canada's hostels are somehow lagging far behind typical hostels elsewhere in the world.
Let's be honest, the entire building & amenities are outdated and could benefit a complete makeover, but the location right by Jericho Beach is great, and it is a good value for budget travelers coming to Vancouver during the tourist season. Far from downtown, but easily reachable by bus.

CanadaIt is an older building. My first room did not have electrical outlets or a light by the bed. The only lights were on the ceiling. You would’ve needed a long extension cord for the one outlet on the wall, no mirrors in the room,do not get (False Creek F Dorm) I was able to change my dorm the next day to one with electrical outlets next to bed and a light and mirrors on the wall, (Hemlock F Dorm) they had a table with chair for each 4 pod which was convenient. I needed to fully pack all my gear and put in luggage storage until 4 pm and given linens to make my own bed. There are no curtains on any of the bunks, no shelf or hooks, no curtains, but had a curtain for privacy for every 4 bunks, no AC, gratefully the windows were big and opened for breeze. 6ft Narrow Lockers with 2 hooks, strong enough for a back pack and an upper shelf. When they clean they wash only the centre floor not the area in each of the 4 pods? Can get a little sandy. Asked to wipe out area and ignored. Bathrooms and showers are great remodelled clean and bright. Only one type of soap offered. Oddly one day we all had to leave our room as there was a police dog that came through all the dorms in a city where all drugs are de-criminalized and cannabis is everywhere? Waste of police resources? And our privacy? Never experienced this anywhere else in the world. Free breakfast offered the week I arrived but I had bought my groceries with me as there is not much nearby. I did enjoy their organic earl grey tea and they had great kitchen resources for cooking. As a world traveller, it was the most expensive hostels I ever paid and by far not the nicest. Vancouver has limited hostels and the Folk Festival nearby was just concluding. The Staff were great, excursions and events were fun. The beach is beautiful, the water can be dirty/muddy/not clear. Check the fecal count before entering the ocean. Jericho seemed to be a consistent safe beach to swim.
Location was great for beach access. There was one restaurant on the beach I ate there 2x every meal was $20 fish tacos 🌮 we’re not worth it but fish and chips were.

United StatesBreakfaat is very basic. A bit pricey for a hostel in my experience, but for Vancouver it’s about the best deal there is.
Location is very near the beach and a 15-minute walk to groceries/liquorstore/downtown bus stop. Place is generally clean and the desk staff are friendly and helpful.

CanadaThey have a lovely large tv media room for entertaining guests in basement which is closed during late hours (10pm-7am.) As basement is also for laundry and kitchen it is a natural place for guests to chill especially during late night when many gueets are still awake and active. Closing tv media room denies people option escape from snorers, people conflicts, sleep issues etc
1)The HI just introduced Free breakfast which is thoughtful as area doesnt have another close option to eat. Its own HI bar seems to have vanished. The breakfast is somewhat continental and i suspect will only improve. 2) The hostel has its own vibe with many activites and group ventures. 3) super close to jerico beach for relax amd sunsets as well as boat club

AustraliaThe dorms are separated into 4 occupants but not insulated from heat or sound. Something to be aware of. My bed was the top bunk. Ladder didn’t have good handles & was difficult for me to get down. In future I’ll ask for a bottom bunk.
Bathrooms regularly cleaned, fresh towels & lots of basins, showers available.

GermanyWe booked via booking.com for my 17yo son - and were not informed that this not possible. When he arrived at the hostel he was informed, that he is not allowed to stay in the hostel without a guardian and was not accepted. So we had to find another place to stay in the evening of Jul 4th, where everything is booked in the area due to american Independenc day. Pushing away a 17yo at night and setting him at risk is not very much hospitablity and care in mega city like Vancouver.
Nice is the nearby beach, free parking within minutes walking and the location itselfs.

ColombiaThe pillow wasn't comfortable for me, the bedspread had an unpleasant smell, and due to the large space in the room with several bunk beds, the noise was heard more in the early morning than the other ones.
The sunset on the beach, watching bunnies, geese, nature, picnics, and sports—it's a great location for all of that. The kitchen is well-equipped. The showers are super clean.

United KingdomBooking dormitories (at least mine) is misleading. It's not really a 4 bed dorm, it's a 12 bed room with a dividing wall between every couple of bunks. There's potentially 11 others coming through the creaky door at any time of night. A curtain for each section of 4 bunks is all you get for privacy, nothing for individuals.
Good location, good facilities, and big lockers, although they aren't exactly beside the beds. Chargers and lamps by each bunk.

TurkeyMy first experience in a hostel was here, and I found it to be a very professional hostel, especially suited for travellers and those looking to meet new people. It exceeded my expectations as a hostel, with a great location, attractive and friendly environment, and good security. I really enjoyed it, especially the daily programs and activities.
