Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomSmall point but if you are above a certain height you have to beware of the low beam of the doorway. This can be a problem when using the shared bathroom facilities at night if you forget to duck (as I did!).
Very historic and spiritual feel to the space. Bed mattress the most comfortable I have slept on. Tour of the museum there very interesting. Really handy for the centre of wonderful Quebec. Nice inclusive breakfast with a refreshingly quiet dining protocol.

United StatesI enjoyed the traditional “authentic” room for a modern and upscale monastic vibe. The location is fantastic, and I appreciated the in/out privileges with the paid parking. This place has a wellness theme that really comes through to make it a unique experience. The staff was friendly and welcoming.

FranceIt’s a bit expensive but I guess they need to keep it that way to preserve its quiet, clean and mindful profile.
Very clean rooms and facilities. The breakfast was delicious and the meals were healthy with a wide range of options. We also liked the museum and the philosophy of the place, as well as the lovely gift shop by the reception.

SwitzerlandThere are too many rules, I didn‘t feel very welcome: „Don‘t open the window! Don’t talk loudly! Don’t play any music! We don’t clean your room! But: Please leave a tip and be generous.“ I would have prefered „A warm welcome!“
Very cool place in the old town. I loved the museum!

CanadaDriving solo home from Toronto to Halifax, as my son and his father were enjoying an extra week in The Big Smoke! I decided to book a hotel for the night midway. I stumbled upon this boutique hotel online, The Monastery Des Augustine, it offered what they described as a superb breakfast, so for an additional $20 I took it. It is situated in the heart of Old Quebec, the only walled city in Canada and one of my favorites. A throwback to another time and place. If you are a romantic, as I am, you should spend a weekend there. You won't even believe that you are still on Canadian soil, you'll feel as if you are in France. When I arrived in Quebec, I had a bit of trouble finding the place and so did my GPS. After circling around for half an hour, I decided to ask a local. Luckily I understood enough of his broken English and I he enough of my French that I could piece together directions. Oddly enough, or because the brothers prefer it that way, the street has no sign. My GPS does state to take a "hard left hand turn" unto Rue Remparts, but that is an understatement. In fact, it is more correctly described as a U turn, as the 2 streets meet at about a 20 degree angle. In fact, it is a walled community inside a walled city. Once you pass through the gates you find a lovely courtyard with meticulously maintained grounds and gardens and a full parking lot. The hotel itself is the historical Monastery with new additions, nicely blending old and new worlds. Immediately, when I walked through the doors, I am struck by this amazing aroma, it's everywhere, like walking into an oversized Saje! It turns out that the hotel also has a spa. I go to the front desk to check in and I am greeted by a rather peculiar looking young man, slight in stature with wire-rimmed spectacles.

United KingdomThat you could not open windows. Ventilation system good however.
Breakfast was excellent though eggs not available every day and were not fried to order. We had the evening meal twice. The first time was wonderful. The second, not so good, as food was a bit dried out and unappetising.

BrazilNothing. It was more than perfect.
I loved the comfort of the hotel, the spiritual atmosphere and the focus on well-being. I really liked the silent breakfast and all the healthy choices. I specially loved the tour of the monastery, and the museum which reflects so well the hard work of the Augustine sisters. Location was also great as it was in a quieter part of town but not too far away.

Fascinating place oozing with history that is brought together in a free tour. Silent breakfast is fascinating. Don't be put off by the shared bathroom concept - just a minor inconvenience having to walk 20m in the middle of the night if required. And actually a brilliant use of space - during a 24hr period how often do you use a hotel toilet/shower; much better to share the resource.

United StatesFor the authentic rooms, they should put in a sound barrier so when the door closed behind when someone is leaving, it doesn’t make a click noise. This is a very old building so sound travels. Though, it was fine. I just noticed it a few times. It did not impact me in any way.
So peaceful and beautiful! The room with a shared bathroom was great. - Shared bathrooms are plenty, very clean and have soap/shampoo/conditioner if you rather not bring your own. They provide a robe so it’s easy to get to the bathroom to shower. - Authentic Room was very clean, comfortable and had all of the necessities - including a sink. It felt spacious because of the high ceilings and the windows. - Breakfast is a must. I thoroughly enjoyed it - fresh, filling and has variety. - Location - perfect! Although close to all things Old Quebec, it is extremely quiet. Saint-Jean street is only a 1 minute walk. And it’s extremely easy to get to the port. I would stay here again.
